I hati tipped this, not because I was stunned or shocked that Iran was using Canada has a conduit to run their end game around any and all sanctions.

We all realize that sanctions are just a bump in the road for Iran, something to navigate, but how the willing or the supremely stupid are not tracking parts and equipment that are enabling the mullahs.

I was particularly 'annoyed' (cleaned that up for you) that I have not heard another word about this news item. I can't remember who posted on another thread that the MSM is dead, but dead it is. This means that the burden is on the 'informed' the 'reader' - anyone who gives a damn to be the thorn in the side of the Rose Garden of WH fame.

It puts responsibility on the individual to be alert, not always an easy task while we are trying to get on with the day-to-day of our own lives, but fewer surprises later.

>>No more America as the word’s policeman. >>

Well...truth be told, nobody really likes the policeman - unless there's someone trying to mug you.

I think this is going to turn out to be one of those "be careful what you wish for - you might get it!" things for much of the world.

I find isolationism a rather appealing philosophy - at least at the moment. I've never given it a lot of thought as to how it would actually affect our lives. Certainly we import a lot of product - would that change? How could you conduct trade with nations if you didn't have treaties? Because we're big enough, defense might not be a major issue...but defense isn't the only issue involved.

Then...since the military isn't permitted to be involved within the US borders, maybe we could get them working on the border instead. Hmmm.

The simple reason that Edward Kennedy voted to defund the South Vietnamese military, even then fighting for their lives and the lives of their family, was that Edward Kennedy wanted some more funds for his private projects, his pet constituents, and his drinking buddies like Chris Dodd.

That's it. That's the entire reason they helped cause the destruction of millions of lives.

When people like Obama come along, Polansky, the ACORN inside videos, they are 'shocked'.

I'm not shocked. I have already seen the darkness at the heart of the soul of the Democrat party. That is the source of the hatred, you see. And that kind of hatred never dies. It surpasses political boundaries. It surpasses personal boundaries. Legal boundaries. International borders. It wants and seeks only one thing. To hurt, kill, exterminate, and obliterate the target that created the hatred.

BW, Instapundit has a very thoughtful link to a post by Kenneth Anderson at Volokh. http://volokh.com/2009/10/03/they-made-a-multilateralism-and-called-it-a-peace/

The gist of it is that:

"one of the basic motivations behind Obama administration proclamations of of “multilateralism.” Multilateralism – well, I suspect a number of the world’s leaders (even if not their peoples so far), both our enemies and our friends, are drawing the correct conclusion that, to the Obama administration, it means … to lay down the burdens, mouth the same words as everyone else, and quit having to bear the costs of providing the essentials of the global security system."

No more America as the word's policeman. The outcome will be more global insecurity and injustice. More volatility, less world trade. Israel will be left to fend for itself.

Seems like the logical endgame of executing a Cloward-Piven strategy and defunding the military.

And then when things become exponentially worse and more horrific, we will have relearn Churchill's bitter lesson that "If you will not fight for the right when you can easily win without bloodshed; if you will not fight when your victory will be sure and not too costly; you may come to the moment when you will have to fight with all the odds against you and only a small chance of survival. There may even be a worse case: you may have to fight when there is no hope of victory, because it is better to perish than to live as slaves."
