My Dad was in the RAF during WWII. This song and Lili Marlene were a permanent part of his brain. I know he wasn’t at this performance, but I bet he wished he had been:

Rather amazingly, Dame Vera is still alive, having just celebrated her (I think) 94th birthday.
Not only that, she is an enormous chart topper.

She’s aged as beautifully as her songs.

Sadie, here is some instruction on creating links from Mount Holyoke College. Go down to “Creating Links.” What is in blue is what will appear as a “title” in your posting. What I have done for myself is to create a template into which I can copy/paste the web/ URL address – in between the quotation marks- and I have put “my title” where the blue part is. I use it over and over again. (I didn’t learn how to do it from the Mt. Holyoke, site, but it appears to have better “quick and dirty” instruction than most such sites.)
Here is what your link would look like: She’s aged as beautifully as her songs.
Use the Preview option to test what you have done.
Or you can go to the tiny url site and download a button on your toolbar. I used to do that regularly, but had a commenter mention that he didn’t want to click on a link to an unidentified page. I understand that – I’d take the person supplying the url into consideration, but mistakes do happen, and there’s a lot of bad stuff out there. I’ve learned how to do the link thing like Gringo supplied, as there are blogs out there where the active link isn’t automatic as it is here – but I had to paste it onto a desktop note – I don’t use it often enough for it to be automatic.

Gringo and suek – Thanks to both of you for your suggestions. Will give it a try when time allows (not to mention a crash course on computer skills one of these days).
BW, I’ve grown to love this song after first hearing it on Carly Simon’s great 1997 CD “Film Noir”. The book “Lili Marlene”, by Liel Leibovitz and Matthew Miller, was released a year ago.
