Israel, espionage and the vindictive, Chicago-style Obama administration

Maybe it’s true, but given this administration’s active, and often false, demonization of those on its enemies list (Rush, Fox, the Chamber of Commerce, Insurers, Doctors), I find very disturbing this headline from BNO News:

Authorities charge former Department of Energy, Defense and NASA worker with attempted espionage for Israel.

In other words, they’ve now succeeded in destroying your trust in the integrity of the government.

    Not a good thing.

    Something is not ‘kosher’.
This was a set up as the agent was not a real Israeli, but one of ours ‘pretending’ to be a foreign agent. So, why set it up as an Israeli, why not another country.

Was this quasi operation to give warning to Israelis – Don’t even think about it, we’re on to you or an additionally commentary on Jonathan Pollard or a message to the Arab countries … see, we’re looking out for you.

This is a detailed AP report from Fox News website.

    http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,568587,00.html

    From the article:

The affidavit by FBI agent Leslie Martell said that on Sept. 3, Nozette received a telephone call from an individual purporting to be an Israeli intelligence officer. The caller was an undercover FBI agent.

They’re trying to make people perceive Israel as America’s enemies. So it’d be the same thing as wiretapping a call between you and a terrorist, or if a terrorist calls someone in your neighborhood.

Wiretapping? Bad, unconstitutional. FBI entrapping you? Good. It’s the Days of Obama. All is good.

I’m not sure trust in the integrity of government was ever a good thing.

    True, Charlie, too true.

But we’re prepared to hand over our health care to them???

Government? Integrity?? In the same sentence? Whatever was I thinking!

The indomitable Jennifer Rubin at Contentions has linked to a great Politico post that is spine-chilling in its implications.

Folks, we are well on the way to permanent one-party rule. It’s machine politics writ large. The Obamacrats continue to seize the machinery of government. Obama owns most of the media; has nationalized the financial sector; and is of course bidding to take over health care. You will remember that one of his very first acts in office was an attempt to rig the statistical reporting of the census. He is executing a Clowen-Piven strategy domestically and is ceding areas of sovereignty to international organizations (e.g, global warming regs, UN human rights, etc).

D’oh! I know that I sound like Homer Simpson to most on this board — it’s become shockingly obvious to those with eyes to see. But even so, a few things from the Politico story struck me:

    (1) The administration’s constant efforts at demonization and delegitimization do take its toll on the intended targets.

    (2) Delegitimization severs the social contract, and those who control the levers of government thwart the consent of the governed.

    (3) We, the loyal opposition, have a tendency to deride certain surface tactics, such as the demonization of Fox News, as stupid or counterproductive, without paying enough attention to the success of the underlying strategy. It’s fine to celebrate a victory now and then, but we haven’t even faced our Dunkirk yet.

    (4) Machine politics is a roach motel: once you’re in, you can’t get out. I lived in Massachusetts long enough to know.

The fate of the Tea Party will be telling.

To my mind, the only question is, what specific steps can we take to reclaim the mechanisms of government, short of massive civil disobedience?
