I’ve always loved that movie. I had a crush on June Allyson when I was about 9, and that movie was about 11.
Notice the units marching are integrated?
I don’t believe I ever saw the movie (Glenn Miller story?), but I recognized James Stewart. Like the General, I loved the song.
From the same era, here are the Andrews Sisters singing Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy of Company B. The sister who has the solo does a respectable job of scat singing and of imitating a trumpet growl. I found that pleasantly surprising for a pop singer.
When a child I made several visits to a friend’s cabin in the mountains. The cabin had a wind up Victrola and a set of 78s that included Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy.
