Gibbs emerges from cave after 8 years to make indescribably stupid comment

I’m rather enjoying Press Secretary Robert Gibbs, who is proving himself to be an idiot without any savant attached.  When questioned about the tea party protests, Gibbs logically focused on the handful of signs that liked the current administration to a Nazi regime (logical because he is trying to discredit tea partiers).  He then voiced this gem:

Imagine just a few years ago had somebody walked around with images of Hitler.

At the precise moment I read that line, I wanted to holler out to Gibbs and ask “Was Bin Laden resident in the same cave in which you were living for the last eight years?”  I mean, honest to God, how in the world did Gibbs miss this?

If you need further evidence that Gibbs has managed to be completely disconnected from objective reality, just read Mary Katharine Ham’s post on the subject.

It’s true that P.T. Barnum said that there’s a sucker born every minute, and it’s clear that Gibbs is aiming for those suckers.  Nevertheless, it was none other than Obama’s idol (assuming a self-made God can have an idol), Abraham Lincoln, who noted that “You may fool all the people some of the time, you can even fool some of the people all of the time, but you cannot fool all of the people all the time.”  I think people are getting unfooled, and pretty damn quickly too.

For example, I have it on shaky authority that even some of those who worshipped most fervently at Obama’s altar are getting worried.  My 87 year old Mom told me that she’d just come back from a little lecture given by “an important person at the LA Times.”  According to my Mom, this “important person at the LA Times” assured the aged audience before whom he spoke that ObamaCare “isn’t going to happen.”  He seems to think Congress can’t get the votes.  He also said that Obama has been very disappointing, because he hasn’t done anything.  (I understand that this is hearsay, and from an elderly lady, so please don’t take this as gospel.  Nevertheless, assuming my mother is correct — and she often is — this story is telling.)

As for me, I’m beginning to get a handle on Barack Hussein Obama.  He likes to (a) dine in style; (b) listen to rock music in the White House; (c) go on talk shows; (d) play golf; (e) play basketball; (f) appear for strategic photo ops; (g) travel to Europe to be feted.  All of these involve his own pleasure or his own self-aggrandizement.  Obama does not like to (a) talk to generals; (b) make decisions; (c) work hard; (d) participate in any event where he is not the central figure; (e) accept criticism; (f) learn from mistakes.

Unfortunately, Bookie, his target market are libs who — being driven mainly by their emotions rather than fact and reason — live only in the moment. What happened in the Bush administration has ceased to exist in any substantive way for them. Oh, they’ll acknowledge it if pointed out, but it still isn’t REAL, or significant to them, because it doesn’t serve their emotional meme. They’ll stare right at those pictures of Hitler, and then say yes, but “Imagine just a few years ago had somebody walked around with images of Hitler.”
They operate in a different logical universe.

Yes, it is repeatedly irritating to the piont of exhausted boredom to have the Libs whine about their illusionary belief that conservatives are labling them as Nazis while our memory of their Bush-is-Hitler bashing is grounded in stone and fact. One superficial analysis of their childish whining and childishly intentional ignoring of recent history is that they are just projecting their own belief system on us. They were and are the ones who crave to be in control, be the Great Leader, be the dictator. They called Bush that as a curse. They cringe when they think we have identified their secret desire.
Boy I hope you’re right about 1989 and 2009, and then 2010, BW
