And to think…we never appreciated all that effort!

Just goes to show what computer experts we aren’t, I guess.

I’ve just bought a refurbished super Dell computer… No operating system. I’m going to load the new Ubuntu program. My son assures me it’ll be a breeze and I’ll have no problem with it.

Somehow, I have my doubts. But I’m closing my eyes and jumping off the pier in any case…it’s that or Windows 7, I guess. Just hope the water’s deep enough. Or not too deep. Or something.

During the 2008 campaign, Michelle famously remarked that for the first time in her life she felt proud to be an American.

Looks like Obama has not made it to that point yet.

I must be slow, but for a long time I wondered why the face of the guy behind the podium was blocked out in the photo. Then I realized — is that Obama’s teleprompter in the way?

suek, you are using “naked links” – just the URL. You are correct, those still work. What I was using were embedded links, where you see not the URL, but a text title for it. As an example of embedded link, look up at “Andrea Shea King” or “Melissa Clouthier” just below the picture of Obama’s not saluting . Also note that the “naked” part of my embedded link- the URL- still works. All that noise above it is evidence that something is awry. (Had my embedded link worked, you would have seen “my title” in the posting.)

I am also using Firefox, and am currently able to add comments with HTML tags to other websites without glitches. So yes, the issue would appear to be Book’s software.

Until several weeks ago, you used to be able to add HTML tags, such as italics, boldface, blockquote, to your comments here. These no longer work. You CAN add italics and boldface by highlighting the appropriate text and clicking on the B or the I at the top left of the box where you type in a comment. While underlining shows up in what you write, it doesn’t show up in the preview box. ( I have been using HTML tags in my postings for several years, so I know the drill.) The link I had gives instruction on using HTML tags, by the way. Which you CAN still link to, as the “naked” part of my embedded link- the URL- still works.

I apologize for my language, and Book, if you feel the need to censor or replace with asterisks you may do as you see fit.

But my pure, honest reaction to this — and to seeing Pres. Obama hold his hand over his heart in Russia, but not here — is:
