Evidence of global warming scam and massive collusion in the “scientific” community
Bookworm on Nov 20 2009 at 12:18 pm | Filed under: Climate change
It’s a story that broke first in Europe, but is making its way here. (I heard about it on NewsFifty, which is constantly adding links.) Here’s the story, briefly: Hadley GRU is one of the major climate change advocacy organizations. Hackers broke into its database and discovered more than a thousand emails and documents indicating that scientists were colluding with the organization to push the “man made global warming” mantra — irrespective of the actual data. Indeed, in many cases, it appears that the organization, sometimes working with the scientists, was falsifying the data to push the agenda. This stuff pre-dates Al Gore’s “frog in the blender” (or do I mean “frog in the boiling water”?) campaign, but it surely informs the campaign, which started shortly after and continued during this information creation period.
Here, for your shock and enjoyment, are some samples of those emails. By the way, I’ve kept the bolding that Andrew Bolt, at the Herald Sun, did when he printed up these emails.

Once Tim’s got a diagram here we’ll send that either later today or first thing tomorrow.
I’ve just completed Mike’s Nature trick of adding in the real temps to each series for the last 20 years (ie from 1981 onwards) amd from 1961 for Keith’s to hide the decline. Mike’s series got the annual land and marine values while the other two got April-Sept for NH land N of 20N. The latter two are real for 1999, while the estimate for 1999 for NH combined is +0.44C wrt 61-90. The Global estimate for 1999 with data through Oct is +0.35C cf. 0.57 for 1998.
Thanks for the comments, Ray.
Cheers

Well, as the Church Lady would say, “isn’t that special?” Or how about this one, written almost exactly a decade later:

Well I have my own article on where the heck is global warming ? We are asking that here in Boulder where we have broken records the past two days for the coldest days on record. We had 4 inches of snow. The high the last 2 days was below 30F and the normal is 69F, and it smashed the previous records for these days by 10F. The low was about 18F and also a record low, well below the previous record low.
This is January weather (see the Rockies baseball playoff game was canceled on saturday and then played last night in below freezing weather).
Trenberth, K. E., 2009: An imperative for climate change planning: tracking Earth’s global energy. Current Opinion in Environmental Sustainability, 1, 19-27, doi:10.1016/j.cosust.2009.06.001. [1][PDF] (A PDF of the published version can be obtained from the author.)
***The fact is that we can’t account for the lack of warming at the moment and it is a travesty that we can’t. The CERES data published in the August BAMS 09 supplement on 2008 shows there should be even more warming: but the data are surely wrong. Our observing system is inadequate.***
Horrifyingly, these confessions of the evidence of absence and the absence of honest evidence go on and on and on.
This is a huge story, and you would be doing yourself and world a big favor if you would make sure to broadcast it. It’s only if we keep the pressure on that the MSM will ever so reluctantly acknowledge the existence of this data.

I actually had a story on this in at PJM last night. The turkey’s sat on it till midday.
Augh. ”Turkeys”, no apos.
The Goracle and his acolytes will have to kill this somehow. Stand by for the push back. It should be interesting.
I try pretty hard to maintain an even keel, but I am becoming increasingly angry over these multiple attempts to manipulate us; e.g. global warming, health care, economic stimulus–and people who voted for Barack Hussein Obama. Angry white male syndrome.
I wonder if this will show up in the NYT and if it does will the story be “climate scientists distort data”, or “hackers illegally steal e-mails from climate scientists”?

Le me get this straight. They’ve been deliberately distorting the data, and they STILL couldn’t get their models to work?!?! (Everyone who is paying attention knows that the models’ predictive output has been wildly wrong, consistently.)
How incompetent can you be? This is like using your own loaded dice in a casino… and losing!
Scientific consensus collusion on global warming…
You won’t be seeing this much in the MSM: It’s a story that broke first in Europe, but is making its way here. (I heard about it on NewsFifty, which is constantly adding links.) Here’s the story, briefly: Hadley GRU……
From the NYT story, paragraphs 4-7:
“Some skeptics asserted Friday that the correspondence revealed an effort to withhold scientific information. “This is not a smoking gun; this is a mushroom cloud,” said Patrick J. Michaels, a climatologist who has long faulted evidence pointing to human-driven warming and is criticized in the documents.
Some of the correspondence portrays the scientists as feeling under siege by the skeptics’ camp and worried that any stray comment or data glitch could be turned against them.
The evidence pointing to a growing human contribution to global warming is so widely accepted that the hacked material is unlikely to erode the overall argument. However, the documents will undoubtedly raise questions about the quality of research on some specific questions and the actions of some scientists.
In several e-mail exchanges, Kevin Trenberth, a climatologist at the National Center for Atmospheric Research, and other scientists discuss gaps in understanding of recent variations in temperature. Skeptic Web sites pointed out one line in particular: “The fact is that we can’t account for the lack of warming at the moment and it is a travesty that we can’t,” Dr. Trenberth wrote.”
Like all good liberals, the NYT helps us understand what we’re reading in paragraph 6: Nothing here of substance folks, that we can’t explain away. I wouldn’t expect anything less.
It’s the standard liberal reaction to any inconvenient truth.
