I used to think of England as the country that birthed America. I used to be proud of both countries. If I were to travel anywhere to stay for a few months, I would have gone to a charming village in England and happily spent my time among those great people.

Now, these days, I too scarcely recognize the country. It has changed so much in twenty years! I have no desire to visit it any longer. Europe, all of Europe, is in twilight, deepening dusk, headed into the dark night. The decline of civilization. There but for the grace of God go we, as well.

There is still hope for reclamation, but it would be a long struggle. But let us not completely give up hope.

David -
I agree. This post really made me quite sad. And it isn't just a bunch of elderly people who like to pretend that everything in the past was perfect. Their concerns about today are legitimate.

I'm particularly troubled at those who say they can't answer the door at night. That is horrible.

"The loss of British sovereignty to the European Union caused almost as much distress. ‘Nearly all veterans want Britain to leave the EU,’ wrote one."

Now this is interesting...because what stops Britian from leaving the EU? As far as I can tell, it's their political leadership - nothing more. What - or whose - army is to stop them? All it would take is "we _will_...

And we should leave the UN. Sweep it off our shores and let them make the best of it.
