Tuesday morning open thread while I get my act together

I find irritating people who comment on ones stress level and then either (a) add to it or (b) do nothing to alleviate it.

My morning is taken over by matters domestic, and blogging will resume in the afternoon.

From suek’s link, it is a premise that one must be aware of when dealing with Dems. You think you are making a deal with them, each side getting an advantage, but in reality the Left are sneaking through things like this in the bills, counting on their Republican dupes to shield it from mainstream criticism or even awareness.

You think you gained something for your constituents by voting for the Dem stuff, allowing them to put what they want in it just as you put what you want in it. Except, what you put into the bill for your Republicans was only temporary safety, and little safety at that. What the Dems put in is permanent erosion of Constitutional power. They have the chess end game in mind decades into the future. You’re just staring at the pie you looted for your home state. Guess who wins in the end.

suek, we’re reading off the same page. I came across the same news item and frothing at the mouth, doesn’t even come close it how it hit me. Obama is the face of our ills, but it’s the body that has the cancer.

Isn’t this Al Frankin and 20 missing Somalis land.
In Russia, it was called the Gulag, in China, it was the re-education camp and in America….

I believe this is an important article, out of Switzerland of all places!

I’ve been commenting for some time that we must – we simply MUST – find a way to curb the excesses of jihadist Islam without assaulting all of Islam itself.  We must understand that we *can* curb those aspects of any religion that themselves directly assault American institutions.

The Swiss have identified one such – and taken action!  It is to our shame we didn’t see and seize this opportunity first.  As the article says, the purpose of the minaret is to assert the dominion of Islam OVER others of all religions.  And we in America do *not* have to allow that.  Absolutely not.

    Headline:

The Swiss Vote To Ban Muslim Minarets

    Excerpts:

Swiss voters took a stand today in a special referendum and voted to ban the construction of new minarets, the high rise Muslim towers that issue the Islamic call to prayer five times a day at earsplitting volume.

The referendum was supported by the Swiss People’s Party, now the largest party in Switzerland, which wants tighter reins on Muslim immigration into Switzerland , and passed overall by almost a two to one majority. In some cantons, the vote was as high as 68%.

A ban on minarets is very different than a ban on mosques. Minarets, which Islamist Turkish Prime Minister Erdogan aptly referred to as ‘Muslim Bayonets’ are designed expressly to show Islamic dominance and have a quite different effect from the ringing of church bells on Sunday. The minarets are designed to tower over most buildings in a neighborhood, and the muzzeins use highly amplified loud speakers to blast out theadhan, the Muslim call to prayer five times daily. And the wording of the Adhan trumpets the superiority of Islam over all other religions:

“Allah is most great. Allah is most great.
I testify that there is no God but Allah.
I testify that there is no God but Allah.
I testify that Muhammad is the messenger of Allah.
I testify that Muhammad is the messenger of Allah.
Come to prayer! Come to prayer!
Come to Allah! Come to Allah!
Allah is most great. Allah is most great.
There is none worthy of respect except Allah..

Like I said, a quite different message from hearing church bells on a Sunday.

Minarets are not necessary in the least, if their supposed purpose is to call worshipers to prayer. The same thing could be accomplished by posting a schedule in the mosque or the local Muslim paper. And why should a ‘call to prayer’ be necessary at all? Religious Christians understand when Church services or Mass is scheduled and show up accordingly.Religious Jews pray in a minyan three times a day like clockwork and light sabbath candles each Friday night at a set time without the necessity of highly amplified loudspeakers calling them to do so.

But then, they’re not attempting to assert their domination over people who worship differently then they do, or take over their countries either, are they?

There may be hope for Europe yet.

Prime Minister of Turkey Recep Tayyip Erdogan, publicly read an Islamic poem including the lines: “The mosques are our barracks, the domes our helmets, the minarets our bayonets and Muslims our soldiers…”
