Someone you have to meet

You have to meet Dan Cnossen, who found himself in the middle of an IED four months ago. I won’t say much more. Just go and check it out (with specific attention, perhaps, to the climbing wall incident on December 9, 2009). What a truly admirable human being, although I think it must help that he is supported by an equally admirable crowd of family, friends, and medical personnel.

There’s more to Dan Cnossen’s story that I find of interest. His father was Mike Cnossen and I knew his father for only a brief period of time in the banking field. His obituary from 1999 follows as well as the link where I found it. As you can see from the obituary Dan Cnossen’s father was a Marine and the recipient of the Purple Heart. His parfents both served in the Peace Corp. That may explain something about his son’s courage and deiscation to service of his country. By strange tragic coincidence Dan’s injuries occurred on 9/8/2009 almost 10 years to the day after his father died in an accident near their home. I haven’t read all of the stories of Dan’s Cnossen but those that I have read fail to mention his father. Perhaps there’s something about that family history that I’m unaware of that results in no mention of his dad. If so, I inever heard anythting and I apologize for offering this information if there is something I’m not privy to that the family would find objectionable. But since this is information available to anyone willing to do a Google search I am offering it. I hate to see his father forgotten in this story. I’m sure Mike would be very proud not only of hiis son but also his wife and duaghter as they have had to deal with another tragedy in their lives.
