Don Quixote’s Thought for the Day: Recounts

Sure hope the election today isn’t close, because you just know they’ll keep recounting the votes until the democrat wins.

Yeah — it’s amazing how the tie always ends when the Democrat wins.

Some are predicting that absentee ballots will make the difference.

Ten hours into the first recount:
“…One for you, and one for me.  One for you, and one for me. There, we’re done. Whew! Dang. You won! Let’s take another at it.”

“One for you, and TWO for me.  One for you, and two for me! Be QUIET! Quit your WHINING! Can’t you see I’m recounting?…”

What turned me from an independent PostLiberal into  tending Rethuglican was the 2000 recount. The following  totally disgusted me: Gore’s attempts to recount only Demo counties, the attempts to change ballot-counting rules that DEMOCRATIC PARTY CONTROLLED  counties had set, the attempt to exclude military absentee ballots, wanting to have ballots counted three and even four times. Anyone who has counted a large number of objects knows that error is inherent in the  counting process, no matter how many times one counts.

Not to mention trying to get the Florida Supreme Court to use different ballot-counting rules from what the counties – especially DEMOCRATIC PARTY counties- had set. Changing horses in the middle of the stream: just like the state legislature did in Massachusetts for Ted’s Senate seat. It’s my ball so I set the rules.  I also found it funny that Gore and friends implied that Democratic Party voters lacked the reading and intellectual skills to fill out a ballot that a Democratic Party-controlled county had designed.

The Washington state governor’s race and Al  Franken’s success in Minnesota showed me I was right.

Make every vote count: as long as it is for the Democratic Paty.
