Barack Obama’s constant need for reassuring symbols

The Anchoress is always good, really good. Today, she is off the charts, when she comments on Obama’s obsessive need for symbols identifying him as someone very important. You must read her post, because I think she’s zeroed in on something very significant about this little man who occupies a very big office.
By the way, the Anchoress is kind enough to link to me in her post, but that’s not why I’m urging you to go there. You’ve probably already read my post about Obama’s narcissism, right?
(As for me, blogging will resume later. My son needs to get some teeth pulled, and I’ve spent most of the day getting him to and from the appropriate places for the pre-surgery meet and greet.)

The Anchoress certainly provides a lot to think about.
At one point, I thought we had lucked out because Obama and his crowd seemed to so incompetent that I doubted they would be able to organize any really harmful feats. More recently, I have really become concerned because like others, I fear that there is real pathology at work. I fear that he may just try to pull of something really dangerous.
The other concern is that he is dividing the country very seriously. If he appears on the brink of failure or rejection, there could be a violent reaction fueled by rage. I will just say it. I suspect there could be a debilitating racial response. He has done nothing to defuse racial, or class divisions, and I am not confident that he would not exploit them to the fullest if it served his purpose.
