Don Quixote’s Thought for the Day: JLibson and the Saints are the winners

Congratulations to jlibson, who was the only one to pick the Saints in the Bookwormroom poll.  No prize, but a years worth of bragging rights to put to use at any time.  And congratuations to the Saints, for a storybook ending to a feel-good story.

The “whiners” are certainly out in force at the sports blogs!!  Wowee!

I didn’t have a dog in the fight, but it is going to be amusing to see what those who dinged Brett Favre for his late-game interception are going to say about the game, since they were arguing that Peyton Manning would never do such a thing!

Me?  I’m waiting for pitchers and catchers to report…..

Thanks to my many loyal fans.  Errr…well both of you.

I never could have done it without MikeDevx.  His thorough analysis forced me to pick the Saints.  :)

I’m glad I was wrong.  That was a very entertaining game!   Peyton Manning and the Colts only run six plays in the entire second quarter?  (Including a dropped ball on a 3rd down pass that was a critical drop.)  The Saints control the ball the entire quarter, but only get two field goals… and still trail.  Then come out with an onside kick to start the second half, keep it, and take another, what, six minutes off the clock in scoring a touchdown to take the lead?  Greatness.
I was right about one turnover for the Saints!  But they did get it on a pass; I’d said no.  And it went for a 70 yard interception return that sealed the game.  Wow.  Great game.  This one – and the Saints – will stay in the memory banks for a while.

Off topic: Just take a look at this headline from Drudge:

NC TOWN CLAMPS DOWN AFTER STORM: Alcohol Restrictions, Curfew, Gun Buying Ban…

Alcohol restrictions?  Gun buying ban?  GUN BUYING BAN?!?!?!

North Carolina Tea Party alert!  There’s a local municipality in need of some protest here!

I understand that.  When the town gets blown apart they don’t want people running out to buy guns – that makes sense.  The cops are too busy to check IDs, take fingerprints, etc.  I get it.

You should already have your guns, before the storm’s a blip on the radar – c’mon, people!

On the subject of “emergency” gun ownership…I would suggest that CA residents get some prior to the emptying of our prisons.

I understand the need to save money in our prison system, but the way it is being done is horrid.  It will definitely increase crime in our already troubled state.

I would suggest buying and installing the gun safe *prior* to buying your firearm(s).

But if you keep your guns in a gun safe, _they’re_ safe – but are _you_???
