This is practically fraudulent.  Local governments collect taxes, then send them to the State which disburses them to the various school districts.  The counties do not fund school disctricts in any way.  Raising local taxes &quot;for education&quot; is just another way of raising state taxes, whether it&#039;s sales taxes or property taxes.
 
By the way - sales tax in Ventura County (not a special tax district at this point) is 8.25%.  Los Angeles County is 9.75%, and various districts within LA County are at the 10%  + level.</description>
