Getting the labels right (language alert)

GMail was kind enough to have its server scan my mail, note its political content, and suggest that I visit a “support Barbara Boxer” website urging me to help defeat “Tea Baggers.” As you’ve noticed, that is now the only term by which the Democratic party refers to this grassroots collection of angry Independents and Conservatives.
I looked at the link for a minute, and finally realized what the appropriate question is with regard to this Democrat-created appellation (and pardon my unusually crude language): “If we’re the party of tea bags, are they the party of douche bags?” It strikes me that any group that so consistently demeans the political process and political aspirations of ordinary Americans falls comfortably within that derogatory characterization.
Feh!

Eric Schmidt (Google CEO) recently asserted that the problem of *search* was “70% solved.” Not sure if Eric includes appropriate advertising placement as part of “search,” but that one is maybe 20% solved. For example, I’ve noticed that an econ professor who writes occasionally about corporate bankruptcy issues gets ads from consumer bankruptcy lawyers. And a woman who has a video feature called “daily dysfunction” gets ads for drugs to cure sexual dysfunction….
I saw that my conservative and Republican e-mails were not arriving, but all the unsubscribed/unmanted Democrat and liberal stuff was being delivered. I found all the conservative/Republican stuff had been sent to Spam without my instruction. Now I check Spam every morn before I do anything… well I have my coffee, THEN I check Spam. BTW, Yahoo did the same thing. Very annoying, but not surprising.
A Question That Must Be Asked…
