A plan based on anti-incumbent fury

A friend sent me the following email, one that he in turn received from someone else.  What do you think of this proposal?  My problem is that I think there are some incumbents we should hang on to at all costs (Cantor and Ryan spring most readily to mind), but I certainly appreciate the sense that Washington is deeply broken and needs to be cleansed in a way akin to the Augean stables:

New Political Party.

Not Democrat, Not Republican, Not Independent.

It’s called the “PISSED OFF PARTY” (or POP).

This party is dedicated to vote every incumbent out of office in the next elections. If you’re Democrat, vote Democrat. Just don’t vote for the incumbent. If you’re Republican, vote Republican. Just don’t vote for the incumbent. IF you are an Independent, vote for the best non-incumbent!

We need to send a message to all politicians, that we’re tired of their B.S. If the country votes out all the incumbents, the new incoming politicians hopefully will get the message..

It’s pretty simple. Nobody needs to change parties and let’s face it, there’s plenty of blame to spread around. A few good politicians will lose their job, but they probably have better retirement and insurance then 95% of the American public. You’ve had to struggle for the last 5 years. Some of you have lost your job and may be working in some other sector just to feed your family. I guarantee you, none of them will suffer like this country has.

If you like whats going on and think this is a bad idea, delete this. But if you’re fed up and think this is a good idea, then pass this E-mail on. If you really think this has legs, then a website and a blog could help get the word out.

To All 535 voting members of the Legislature; it is now official you are ALL to look for a new job or just retire!

Here is a factual basis for the POP strategy:

a.. The U.S. Post Service was established in 1775.  You have had 234 years to get it right, and it is broke.
b.. Social Security was established in 1935. You have had 74 years to get it right, and it is broke.
c.. Fannie Mae was established in 1938.  You have had 71 years to get it right, and it is broke.
d.. War on Poverty started in 1964.  You have had 45 years to get it right; $1 trillion of our money is confiscated each year and transferred to “the poor”   and they only want more.
e.. Medicare and Medicaid were established in 1965.  You have had 44 years to get it right, and they are broke.
f.. Freddie Mac was established in 1970. You have had 39 years to get it right, and it is broke.
g.. The Department of Energy was created in 1977 to lessen our dependence on foreign oil.  It has ballooned to 16,000 employees with a budget of $24 billion a year, and we import more oil than ever before.  You had 32 years to get it right, and it is an abysmal failure.
h.  It appears that Obamacare in some form is going to be rammed through and proceed to further bankrupt the nation without solving the health care problems.

You have FAILED with every “government service” you have shoved down our throats while overspending our tax dollars and without accountability.

AND YOU WANT AMERICANS TO BELIEVE YOU CAN BE TRUSTED WITH A GOVERNMENT-RUN HEALTH CARE SYSTEM? IT’S NOT ABOUT THE NEED FOR GOOD HEALTH CARE, IT’S ABOUT TRUSTING THE GOVERNMENT TO RUN IT!

Folks, keep this circulating.  It is very well stated.

We don’t need a new political party. We need a new and better way of picking freaking leaders. Actual leaders, not beta wannabe insecure alphas that are nothing but rabid dogs that need to be put down for the good of us all.

And if people won’t change their way of doing things, then that’s another problem that needs to be ‘fixed’. Humans need discipline. Probably because if we all had a choice, we’d pick some pretty stupid and self-destructive ‘solutions’ to our problems.

“We need to send a message to all politicians, that we’re tired of their B.S. If the country votes out all the incumbents, the new incoming politicians hopefully will get the message..”

The moment you get rid of your ‘incumbents’ while leaving the real power behind the throne backers, like Byrd, alive, is the moment you just wasted a shat load of funds and time.

Power in the Senate and House aren’t based upon votes. It’s based upon who knows where the bodies are buried. That depends upon seniority. In the Senate it is even worse because of all the committee chairs and sub-committees. A single Senator of a freakish state like California can control the defense expenditure and contracting for the entire United States of Watukistan.

The fact that Kennedy died, meant that Reid lost almost 25% of his political pull. Not 25% of the vote, 25% of his actual political pull, which translates to a lot more than a quarter of Senate votes.

That’s where real power is at. Ain’t going to reform or change anything when you have no idea who actually wields power in this country.

Were it up to me, in a take-it-or-leave-it format, even not knowing in advance what we would get, and knowing also that we would lose a few good people, I’d still say roll the dice and go for it.

But it would be a temporary fix, and only treat a symptom.  What is somewhat encouraging, though, is that there are proposals in about 37 states now to challenge Obamacare, should it pass.  Some are nascent, and won’t pass, and all are under the legal shadow of federal preemption.  But were we to put together a coalition of 38 states, we could take the Coulter Plan (previous post) and turn it into a constitutional amendment, with no input whatsoever from Harry, Nancy and Barack (sometimes also referred to as, “Harry, Nancy, and the other Nancy”).

    From gatewaypundit:

“I have three simple questions Ms Pelosi,” said Rep. Paul Broun, R-Ga. “Are you so arrogant that you think you know what’s best for the American people? Are you so ignorant that you are oblivious to the wishes of the American people? And are you so incompetent that you are going to ignore the Constitution of the United States, use tricks, deceptions, bald faced lies to try to ram down the throat of the American people something that they do not want and is going to be absolutely worse for their healthcare?…”

    Good for Congressman Broun.
It’s about time Republicans realize these radicals are playing by a different set of rules.

I agree completely.  No more playing nice.  No more collegiality.  No more pretending that everything is normal.  Politeness no longer shall rule the day.

The Slaughter Rule is the end of all bipartisanship.  Politeness is no longer acceptable to me.  This is political WAR, now.  Nothing less.  Everyone should now feel free to unleash their best Daniel Hannan – upon ANYONE.

There is always a point where politeness becomes cowardice.  For me, that point has been reached.  There is always a point where silence equals approval.  That point has been reached.

I’m with you, Mike.  I’ve had customers coming in and commenting about it – negatively – for the last week or so.  We have a _light bulb_ store…not exactly where you’d expect it!  Except for the fact that the Calif legislators have been so busy making sure everybody switches to “environmentally poisonous” fluorescents…
