Gazan suffering

The popular meme amongst the unholy cabal that is Islam and the Left is that Israel is a murderous genocidal regime that is currently using the blockade to impose unimaginable suffering on the Gazans.  Fortunately, modern communications allow us to see the full extent of that “suffering” (h/t Sadie):

By the way, Gaza is governed by Hamas, and I thought I’d share with you some gems from the Hamas charter:

“Israel will exist and will continue to exist until Islam will obliterate it, just as it obliterated others before it.” (The Martyr, Imam Hassan al-Banna, of blessed memory).

“The Islamic Resistance Movement believes that the land of Palestine is an Islamic Waqf consecrated for future Muslim generations until Judgement Day. It, or any part of it, should not be squandered: it, or any part of it, should not be given up. ”

“There is no solution for the Palestinian question except through Jihad. Initiatives, proposals and international conferences are all a waste of time and vain endeavors.”

“After Palestine, the Zionists aspire to expand from the Nile to the Euphrates. When they will have digested the region they overtook, they will aspire to further expansion, and so on. Their plan is embodied in the “Protocols of the Elders of Zion”, and their present conduct is the best proof of what we are saying.”

“Moreover, if the links have been distant from each other and if obstacles, placed by those who are the lackeys of Zionism in the way of the fighters obstructed the continuation of the struggle, the Islamic Resistance Movement aspires to the realisation of Allah’s promise, no matter how long that should take. The Prophet, Allah bless him and grant him salvation, has said: ‘The Day of Judgement will not come about until Muslims fight the Jews (killing the Jews), when the Jew will hide behind stones and trees. The stones and trees will say O Muslims, O Abdulla, there is a Jew behind me, come and kill him. Only the Gharkad tree, would not do that because it is one of the trees of the Jews.’ (related by al-Bukhari and Muslim).”

The suffering of the “Palestinians” is a meme that was created to justify hatred of Israel.  The surrounding states could have easily absorbed the Muslims displaced by the 1948 war (started by Muslims) if they had wanted to.  (Look for example at how both India and Pakistan absorbed much greated numbers of displaced persons after the partition (the same year, I belived) of British India.

OT, I would like to suggest two articles from the NY Times opinion pages (I can’t believe I just wrote that sentence) that I chanced across.

The first is on the impetus behind the Obama “reforms” currently roiling the country (the latest, the Dodd/Frank financial reform is already giving us “unintended” consequences–see the WSJ article on rating agencies refusing to allow their ratings to be used in securitization filings, effectively slowing the issuance of credit for businesses)

The second article discusses research on the bias in admissions to “elite” universities against anyone from a conservative or Christian background.  Apparently, participating in junior ROTC of Future Farmers is the kiss of death for admission.

While I have little use for Brooks or Douthat, I find it nothing less than amazing that these editorials made it into the NY Times.  Also, I looked at the comments on the Douthat article.  Almost without exception, the commenters blamed the bias against Christians/conservatives on their ignorance, stupidity and poor grades.  I guess you have to be dumb to believe in God or love America?

Sorry to hijack your blog (I read it everyday and am a big fan).  I just thought this might be of interest to other readers and you didn’t have an open thread today.

The Palestinians occupy the same niche for Abras that blacks occupy for Leftists. They’re mushrooms. You keep them in the dark and feed them sh**. Then you frame some white guy or Israeli, and claim they were growing poison mushrooms for some bio terrorist attack.

The very same Gaza  who complained about shortages of cement and steel, because of the evil Zionist enemy.
