Horror stories, hallowed rituals and Obama?

If you’re wondering how horror stories, hallowed rituals and Obama all fit beautifully into a single political opinion piece, you haven’t yet read Patrick O’Hannigan’s “The Anti-Ritualist,” over at The American Spectator.  And if you like Patrick’s writing style, be sure to check out his blog, The Paragraph Farmer.

As I said to a friend the other day, Obama’s lack of American-ness has nothing to do with his place of birth (although that whole birther thing is a convenient symbol for the issue), and everything to do with his deep dislike for all things American, including her hallowed rituals.

Thank you for that reccommendation.  I’ve now added him to my blog roll, further insuring that the world is safe from my ever actually writing anything.

Having confused informality with authenticity, and grown by dint of community organizing and bad sermons into an adversarial relationship with competence

I love how he expresses that thought.

More than most bloggers, Patrick has a touch of the poet in him.
