Out of sight, out of mind

Zombie believes that the Berkeley City Council, with its unerring instinct for getting to the heart of the matter, and then going in the wrong direction, is on to something with its decision to laud Bradley Manning as a great American hero.  After all, while Assange gets the fame, it was Manning who got the documents.  This means that it was Manning who engaged in acts of espionage and committed treason against his own country.

The problem for the media, though, is that Manning is invisible.  Assange is a showman.  He may not be the most ept showman, but he’s still out there shilling like crazy, while Manning is in prison.  In our visually oriented, headline driven society, that makes Manning irrelevant, despite the fact that he is the “but for” cause of the whole document leak kerfuffle.

Manning had the ammunition – Assange pulled the trigger.

    Greetings:

I caught a snippet of the US Senate hearing about the DADT report the other day on the TV news.  Senator Levin was lecturing a couple of our military service chiefs who have yet to fall into the progressive line.  The aged Senator recalled an anecdote he was told by a special forces operator that there was a homosexual on the operator’s team who was a great soldier and had killed a whole lot of bad guys and, of course, no one else one the team had any problem with the man’s homosexuality.  Private Bradley Manning, a date who will live in infamy, was, apparently, not so relevant to the lecture.

What struck me was the silence that fell over the disagreeing service chiefs.  Much like the officer who was hectored by California’s own Senator Boxer, they sat there an offered no counter-argument or example.  Similar to those who used to be referred to as the “Titans of Industry”, they sat like a third-grader appearing before the principal of his school.

These incidents very much worry me.  These are emblematic of the attitude of the rulers toward the ruled, not fellow citizens of a democracy.  That they occur is bad enough; that they and the incumbent kowtowing are televised strikes me as as subliminal desensitization program, both for those present and the society at large. The message seems to me to be: We do this to the most powerful among you; what can you others hope for?

It sure is a huge problem.  And not just on this issue.  Our ruling elites in the government have every intention of lording it over us.

Did you know there are provisions in ObamaCare that force Congress OUT of their preferred health care special status?  And that those provisions actually apply?  But Obama’s Administration has already publicly stated that they are going to IGNORE THE LAW and not apply what does apply to Congress.  How nice for them.  What a sweet deal!!!  They truly are our lords and ladies, our betters.  Bow to them.

And now we have the spectacle of our military leaders, who know better, and who surely have come armed with facts, refusing to speak up… and bowing to our lord and lady superiors in Congress too.

This has to stop.  It’s time to ramp up the rebellion and put these smirking lords and ladies right in their f’ing place.

I’m a retired naval officer.  One thing that is absolutely sure is that the military has drummed into it that civilians are at the top of the hierarchy.  Not merely the Commander in Chief, but also — perhaps especially — the Congress.  While I would have hoped that officers at that level would know how to make an appropriate “with all due respect, sir” argument, I do sympathize a bit with their situation.  I don’t think it any coincidence that the Army and Marine officers have been more, er, forthcoming, than those of other branches.  (I was a submariner:  we have a poor record recently when it comes to taking risks.)

Mike Devx, remember We Few by John Ringo? nimashet Despreaux said the exact same thing heh

It’s time to ramp up the rebellion …

I believe that’s exactly what they want. They want us to break the rules they ignore. In the end, the laws and rules will only be applied to the peons. I once wondered about the folks that packed it all up, moved to an isolated and sparsely populated area and became self sufficient – I don’t wonder anymore.

Friends of mine (she home schools the children, he works for DOD). He’s worked for DOD for many years(25+) and several years ago, they bought a house on a decent size track of land. The only road is the one to their home. No cross traffic and you can see/hear anyone coming. Anyway, the first thing they did was order a wood burning stove. It’s made in the USA and they had to wait 6-8 months. That’s how good business was for the manufacturer. The following year … hens, goats and assorted other small farm animals. The closest shopping area is a good 30 minutes from their front door. I knew I could never ask him what he did at work (wink-wink) but I believe their decision answered questions I have only begun to revisit. I shudder to think what has crossed his desk and the years when he wasn’t behind a desk (more winks here).

If you’ve followed Glenn Beck lately, I shudder to think your DOD friend is probably going in the right direction. If the “Revolution is Now”, those of us on the “right” side, or any side for that matter, may be in deep doo-doo. I have been thinking for a couple of years exactly what Glenn is now saying, that it’s really over. Collapse of the dollar by the Fed & the Chinese & OPEC, civil unrest, government takeover of everything (including our beloved internet, thanks to Assange)… it’s all leading to the end. God help us.

I have been following Glenn Beck. I can only conjecture that my friend saw the writing on the wall, before Beck put it on a chalkboard. Not all revolutions are televised – some are legislated and the subtle and acute changes are not all covered  (other than on the internet). Breibart expose on the Pigford pig fest is a good example. More than a billion dollars to be paid to farmers, who planted nothing other than a plot for reparations or Harry Reid’s windmills, made in China and to be operated by a Chinese company, along with the usual suspects and results in education K through college. I am sure the children of my friends are being home schooled for those very reasons. If they can loot the banks, loot the educational system and refer to dissenters as ‘terrorists’ for taking the process ‘hostage’ … deep doo-doo is an understatement.

It is ‘civil unrest’ that they want and wait for-it would be the impetus to initiate more control. I can’t remember that exact wording, but Obama spoke of a citizen army and I don’t think he meant you or me. Like creeping sharia, progressive tactics are at work the same way.

Hope for the best, plan for the worst.

    Thanks Y.

It’s getting creepier by the hour. Just heard Bill Clinton on TV boosting the Chinese windmills as good for the American people and how it will insure a good wage for the worker. Hmm, was he reading my rant today?

My question is, if the TSA is fine with following orders and checking your privates. What happens if they are armed with shock guns? Assault rifles? Billy clubs? Will they also be “fine” with arresting you? Will they be fine when they are told you need to be suppressed?

The Left operates by function of progressive deterioration, HIV, and cancer resulting in death of the host. Sometimes it goes fast, like in Russia, China, and Iran when the revolutionaries take over quickly. Sometimes it goes slower, like in the US, Canada, Australia, Japan, and Europe.

People are keep getting told that this is “progressive” and that even if it is “dangerous”, that it is just going to be a little bit. It won’t hurt at all. That’s what people thought. And that’s why people are foolish.

  • SADIE

that it is just going to be a little bit.
