Happy day.

I know I’ve mentioned here before that I have lousy vision.  Really lousy.  I started wearing contacts when I was 12, and they served me well for decades.  Then, I had babies and my eyes rebelled against the contact lenses available 14 or so years ago.  Still, I don’t give up.

Because contacts lenses are still a commercially profitable area, the manufacturers have not sat around resting on their laurels.  Instead, year after year, they continue working to stay ahead of their competitors.  This is good for me, because they’ve created ever more comfortable lenses for people with dry and sensitive eyes.  In addition, they’re better at coping with sever astigmatism than they were before.  Between the one and the other, today, for the first time in 14 years, I walked out of the contact lens shop without pain and with excellent vision.  Let’s just say that I experienced an endorphin explosion.

The contact lens gal thinks she can do even better for me (that is, have me seeing even better), but she has to order some special lenses.  I’m very happy now, and I have the potential to be even more happy in a couple of weeks.  Thank goodness for market forces!
