Something that simultaneously breaks your heart and lifts you up

This is one very together community. Aside from their humanity, their patriotism, and their cleverness, it’s clear from watching the video that the whole community, not just one race, shares those virtues.

It occurs to me that you could draw an analogy between that town and the USA of yesteryear compared to the USA of today…
This is one of the more profoundly moving things I’ve seen in a long time.
I wish we could just let the libs gather on the coasts and let them eat each other and destroy what’s left of the places they’ve already destroyed. The “heartland”, which I think cannot be better symbolized by the citizens in this video, is real and does represent an older America, with its values of patriotism (not jingoism…we don’t even have to agree with the war, but we should show respect for those who have fought for us) and respect and decency. I cried when I watched this, the hundreds with their hands over their hearts, the American flags…the nation they love and care about is dying, murdered by fools and knaves who couldn’t give a damn about Sgt Jones and his sacrifice. No, they care, they HATE Sgt Jones and what he stands for, they would hate the town and hate the flag and what IT stands for.
On the other hand…maybe if you, Book, and thousands of others, can wake up from their earlier liberalism…and we have enough folks like the ones in the videos, who went out and met Sgt. Jones and paid their respects…maybe if we don’t give up and actively work to change the US back to what it was…and yes, it WAS a better place, it is now “circling the drain”; if the cataclysm comes, where things fall apart, these could be the people who bring it back (though I realize that’s a long shot once things fall apart…).
A good rest-of-Passover and a Happy Easter to everyone.
One footnote sort of thing…
They were also protecting the families from the incivil activities of the Westboro Baptists. Do not be mislead by these people (the WB) – they are not protesting out of religious fervor – they are protesting in order to provoke a reaction that will allow them to sue. The founder – whatever his name is – is a disbarred lawyer who has run for office as Democrat candidate for several offices, including Governor, several times. His daughter is a lawyer, and represents them in court cases. The family constitutes the sole membership in the “church”, and their suits are their sole support. They pay no taxes – they are all protected under the guise of religion. The more outrageous their protests, the more likely people are to do _something_ that will enable them to sue. Do I know this to be a fact? No. Strictly surmise.
In my opinion, they are even more despicable than their extremist views would lead you to believe.
I was crying – this is small-town, flyover-country, connected America. Which, as the the media elite, and the political and intellectual elite view it – is just too bitter and gun-clinging to be acceptable in their society.
I posted it to my blog. The next time there is a military funeral in Texas, look for the locals here to up the game against these Westboro freaks. We sorta have this compeditive thing going… as well as being very protective of our military people and their families.
The Westboro people are despicable. This is a great story. I intend to share it with a lot of people so perhaps it can be repeated.
Does anyone know how or from where these Westboro “Baptists” get their money? Soros?
The Leftist church functions much like a Leftist cult. I would presume their funding is based on similar veins. Although it would take an O’Keefe/breitbart infiltration to get the goods on the real deal.
Suek is right – They get their money from suing individuals and municipalities for assault, or failure to prevent assault. The adult members of the disgusting clan are just about all lawyers. You see, it’s not about the protest, actually. They do these protests to deliberatly provoke bystanders into taking a swing at them… and there is always another one of them, standing off with a camera, to document the whole thing … then they file suit. It’s a money-maker for them, if someone actually does rough them up. A lot of the counter-protests against them have been very creative, and left them without any grounds for filing suit. In one case at a military funeral, the local fire department parked their biggest hook and ladder truck directly in front of them. In anothe instance, the police department bag-pipe band set up directly in front of them and began to play, all during the time the freaks were having their protest. There is a motorcycle club, the Patriot Riders, whose members make it a point to travel to veterans’ funerals – and block any view of them. They also did a protest, IIRC at a recent Comic-Con in San Diego - and the attendees at the convention did a very effective counter-protest; poked fun at them with vigor and enthusiasm.
Lawyer tort affiliation then. Meaning they are connected to tort lawyers, lobby against tort reform, and are for certain union protections covering labor laws.
I didn’t know that they had setup themselves in this vein. The media certainly never reports it. Ah, but that might be because it would shed bad light on torts and lawyers. A whole clan of lawyers? That’s like DC in miniature.
Sgt Mom: this is how mature trees in the forest die.
At the peak of their beauty, their heartwood rots from within and insects bore holes through the supporting structure until, in the slightest wind, they come crashing down into the forest.
Our country is being parasitized to death from our elements within, better than any external enemy could have dreamed of accomplishing.
We have to prepare for the renewal of new growth.
I liken it to trees dying not by natural causes but because some Leftist do gooder spiked the tree which then caused the tree to suffer from parasitism and diseases.
What was the spike that brought down the tree, do you think, Ymarsaker?
Not just one, but several. Environmentalists originally spike trees so that woodcutters would injure themselves when cutting trees down. Without a stable core, a tree that is being cut can just explode and fall in any direction, crushing whoever is around thinking the tree would only fall in the direction they intended it to.
America is an old tree that has grown large for centuries. It has taken many spikes to disrupt the internal core of the trunk. But enough spikes and the tree, once rotten from within, will just collapse under its own weight. All the fluff fluff on top getting nourishment, cannot be supported by the base, and down it goes. We’re lucky if this happens over decades, as the tree slowly dies. But the Left wants a more explosive movement.

It is counterproductive to the goals we’re working toward,” said Tim Maloney, executive director of the Hoosier Environmental Council, the state’s largest advocacy group. “This is a small group of individuals who don’t reflect the approach taken by the environmental community at large.”
Btw, I would call that shading the truth a bit, since most environmentalists are like most socialists in America: stealth environmentalists. They believe in the same goals, they just think it would be better to play it safe, quiet, and use America’s legal laws to do the deed rather than violent insurgency operations. They’re still an insurgency, of course. Just currently one in its “non-violent” phase.

Btw, when they say trees aren’t damaged by a spike going through the trunk and staying inside, I wouldn’t trust their so called biological education if I were you.
