Who knew Al Sharpton was a comedian?

The venerable Rev. Spooner in England was famed for transposing letters and whole syllables in words and phrases, as well as muddling up ideas.  Although many stories attributed to him are apocryphal, he himself admitted that he said “Kinkering Congs Their Titles Take.”

My person favorite arose when he entirely reversed an idea.  Thus, when speaking of a widow, he allegedly said that “her husband was eaten by missionaries.”  Thanks to Rev. Spooner, a new word entered the English language:  “spoonerism.”

In our lifetime, another reverend, although certainly not a venerable one, might get a new word of his own.  Perhaps a completely incoherent expression will be called a “sharptonism.”

The word you are looking for is buffoon.

If I were black, I would be terminally embarrassed by this clown. I would also be angry that the people who hired him are obvious racists if they think this man comes anywhere close to representing the best that black Americans can produce.

Must be the new tagline for MSNBC – “Leaning Forward”  (until your forehead hits the monitor). I guess Rev. Al didn’t get the memo.

I MUST say that the good Reverend didn’t say very MUCH. Or was that , “I MUCH say the good Reverend didn’t say very MUST.”  Such MUSTY words need to be ventilated.

Part of the problem is simply volume of speech. If he had his druthers, Reverend Sharpton would be on camera 8 hours a day. Whether or not he is actually on camera for those 8 hours, I  find it likely that he has regularly opined in public areas for many hours a day- for decades.  The more you speak, the greater the likelihood that you are going to  say something that is not ready for prime time, like his mixing up much and must.

My understanding is that Reverend Sharpton finally paid the damages he was assessed  on the libel suit he lost as a result of his loose mouth during the Tawana Bradley episode.
