There’s somethin’ happening here…[UPDATED]

What it is, isn’t really clear!
Consider me absolutely floored by this article on Sarah Palin, appearing in the Liberal Temple of Orthodoxy, the New York Times. It’s actually a fair assessment of something that Sarah Palin said that was neither remarked upon by Liberal Media, nor by the Conservative Media.
“Strangely, she was saying things that liberals might like, if not for Ms. Palin’s having said them.
“This is not the capitalism of free men and free markets, of innovation and hard work and ethics, of sacrifice and of risk,” she said of the crony variety. She added: “It’s the collusion of big government and big business and big finance to the detriment of all the rest — to the little guys. It’s a slap in the face to our small business owners — the true entrepreneurs, the job creators accounting for 70 percent of the jobs in America.”
As the author of the op-ed, Anand Giridharadas, asked, “Is there a hint of a political breakthrough hiding in there?”
Then again, he could be out of a job next week.
***UPDATED***
Apparently the NYT locked out the article soon after it was published (and after I read it). Another way that I have found to access this article is to link to the Alaska Dispatch here: http://www.alaskadispatch.com/article/pigs-do-fly-new-york-times-publishes-column-praising-palins-speech
…and click on the link imbedded in the article.

Off-topic, but Book…given your mother’s experiences during WWII I thought you might be interested in this post.
Given the current financial status of the NYT, the Sulzbergers- or should I say Carlos Slim- would need little pretext for another Reduction In Force, even if is only for one.
I doubt that Mr. Slim would be pleased with the unanswered references to crony capitalism, given how he made his billions in Mexico. Carlos Slim is Mr. Crony Capitalism Himself.
She was seen as attacking Republicans–and there’s an opening for the title “Maverick” Any attacks on Democrats will be ignored.
Good for you Book, for airing this column. When I first saw it, I sent a link, and a comment, to all of my address book.
Kali, despite the obligatory digs in the column, and perhaps the underhanded motivation for writing it, it does bring attention to Sarah Palin’s thoughts on the problems of the day. Anyone who bothers to read it should note that this is a woman who thinks clearly about the big issues.
While Obama and many of the GOP candidates are arguing about nits and lice, Mrs Palin is expounding on how dysfunctional our political culture has become, and how that degrades our way of life as well as the national economy. She is illuminating the real issue we should be addressing in our Presidential elections, most particularly the upcoming one. Rather than arguing about whether we label SS a Ponzi scheme, or joining the endless carping about whether the rich are taxed sufficiently, she is thinking big, and she is thinking clearly. I would assert that this level of thought demonstrates real intellectual capacity, even if it originates in a brain that did not have benefit from an Ivy League indoctrination. In fact, I would call this kind of thinking–Presidential.
I commented that if the referenced speech had been delivered by one of the competitive GOP candidates it would be labeled a “game changer”. If it had been delivered by Barack Hussein Obama, the world would have anointed him afresh as the greatest statesman of the age. A man who sees clearly that which lesser persons cannot envision. Ad Nauseum. But, it was delivered by Sarah Palin. Ho hum.
So, Mr Foster, why did you think it appropriate to go off topic?
Oldflyer..”why did you think it appropriate to go off topic?”
Because I know it is a subject Book is interested in and wanted to bring the post to her attention.
Is this a problem?
Just curious why you would want to divert attention from a pro-Palin thread with the very first response. Now that you have explained, I am sure that was not your intent.
Shazzam! What some of us have been saying for decades, someone at the NYT actually heard. Who would have thunk it?
This was the speech she gave at the event I attended in Manchester NH on Labor Day. People roll their eyes at me when I tell them I admire her. She is the real deal and the reason for her poor polling numbers is the established politicians in both parties fear her.

I admire Sarah Palin, too. She believes in so many of the things that have made our country and people great. Her values are the values I love. At this point, more than any of the candidates on the stage at the most recent debate, she represents what I believe in. Many factors in addition to that would go into my choice in the Republican primary, but she’d continue to receive my strong consideration.
I’m sure Foster just needed a convenient place to have her see the link and this happened to be it.
