Hiding from the press
Bookworm on Oct 25 2011 at 9:38 am | Filed under: Barack Obama, Media matters
Obama is playing it safe, with no downside risk, with his decision to bar the Bay Area’s media from attending his appearance here. Sure, they’re going to whine now, but when 2012 rolls around, they’re going to fall into place and support him to their last drop of ink.
Meanwhile, he has limited his exposure somewhat, making sure that the suitably cowed Washington press, which depends on him entirely for its reporting livelihood (as opposed to local media, which has other things to cover), doesn’t expose him when he embarrasses himself, as he inevitably will. (I say “inevitably” because he tends to relax his guard in San Francisco, and make stupid statements about bitter Americans.)

From the press pool report at the first fundraiser:
And from the second:
Meanwhile, news photographers were welcomed earlier in the day when Obama made an unscheduled stop at Roscoe’s House of Chicken ‘n Waffles in West L.A., where he ordered the No. 9, “Country Boy” – 3 wings with choice of waffle, potato salad or French fries for $8.90.

Words escape me – not really. I just not using them here.
Funny the description of those events and attendees sounds a whole lot like the 1% (earning more than $370,000) and certainly not permitting in the 90%, whose average salary is less than the cost of those tickets, to attend. As Arsenio Hall used to say, “Things that make you go, hmmm.”
Looks like Paula Deen went off the reservation and has dished on how Michelle Obama actually behaved when appearing on her show – how dare she!
“While plugging her new book, “Paula Deen’s Southern Cooking Bible,” the feisty TV chef took a pot shot at Michelle for gorging herself on greasy french fries, fatty hot chicken wings and sugary deep-fried Snickers bars!”

I can just hear the POTUS ordering: “I’ll have the Bitter Clinger #9.”

Just one more example of NObama trying to be all things to all people. Praise the OWS people- they of the so-called 99% - and then get some campaign dosh from the 1% the OWS people are condemning. Of course, NObama can say that by coughing up big bucks for his campaigning, the moneyed people are purchasing dispensations. Good millionaires donate to the POTU$. Bad millionares do not donate to the POTU$. Ditto billionaires.
While NObama has banned the press from the events, it is quite possible that someone inside will record it. The “Bitter Clingers” speech was not recorded by a journalist, but by someone attending the event.
Seems to me the POTU$ spends an awful lot of time in fundrai$ing.
He’s a lizard. Lunch for $8.90 and dinners for $35,800.
There’s a word for it from my secret pun dictionary – Chameleonaire.
Gringo: “…it is quite possible that someone inside will record it.”
Don’t count on it.
Let’s not forget SF Chronicle reporter, Carla Marinucci, who recorded a portion of an April 2011 Obama SF fundraiser at the St. Regis Hotel and was subsequently banned from furthher pool reporting for using a recording device. Obama essentially banned all non-approved, non-pencil/paper reporting media from his fund raisers. Of course, publically the ban was dropped – or, was it lifted? - but Obama and his Chicago politics style friends have a way of continuing behavior previously reputiated without a peep from the formerly oppressed MSM.
Nicolle Belle, an unapologetic liberal blogger at Crooks and Liars, mewed, “Banning a reporter for *reporting* because she had the temerity to use a video camera rather than a keyboard? Quite a change from an administration promising transparency, isn’t it?
There is some irony here: Carla Marinucci is about as Marxist as a San Francisco Chronicle “journalist” can get without actually wearing a Che or Mao T-shirt. She is totally, irretrievably in the can for The One, so, of course, he pees on her. Nancy boy narcissist meets clueless commie. Whatta combo!
OB told the Kardassians that their show was great. Then later on he told his daughters he didn’t like them watching it. Hah.
Obama’s method to control the media works. It’s what I would have recommended Bush do, to control the media when they were busy sabotaging the war.
>>OB told the Kardassians…etc….>>
Actually, I don’t fault him for this. He might indeed find the show enjoyable, entertaining – whatever – but think it was unsuitable for young girls.
I watch shows that aren’t particularly suitable for teens or younger… You really don’t want to show approval for messages that are inherent in some of the shows, but are contrary to the ideals you’re trying to get across to them. Adults can deal with the contradictions, but youngsters often aren’t able to – so you avoid them.
Now…the fact that he finds the show enjoyable… That just shows he has no taste.
But we all have our faults!
The most likely scenario was that he was lying and just telling people what they wanted to hear, while controlling his own territory. That’s the O modus operandi. But people still assume stuff he says is true. That’s a potentially fatal flaw.
The Left are inherently hypocritical and inconsistent. Their media wants “freedom” and no government censoring. On the other hand, other factions in the Left demand government regulations and DOMINATION of social, education, and business sectors for the “good” of all.
The trick is to understand this. The Leftist media uses Constitutional freedoms to kill the Constitution. The Leftist totalitarian wannabes use Constitutional freedoms over regulation to kill the Constitution. See, there’s no contradiction at all once you think of it like that.
>>The most likely scenario was that he was lying and just telling people what they wanted to hear>>
Agreed. He is a manipulator. That’s what they do.
