On the road again, open thread

We’re back in the car today, so my blogging will be on hold for several hundred miles. When I get back to my computer, I’ll tell you about two fascinating people I met yesterday.

Until then, I hope you have fun with this open thread.

This is just a great video to end the week, especially in light of Thanksgiving. It a video that was actually made for Veterans Day that shows dogs welcoming home their owners as they come home for deployment.

Love those doggie homecoming videos.  Of course they make me hate Mohammed a little bit more, what with his not liking dogs and thereby condemning the ones in Moslem lands to a horrible life.

My doggie has a good life and in return she protects me from scary drunken guys and who knows what else because scary drunken guy is the worst we have encountered together.  Her name is Sophie, she’s part Catahoula and part Australian Shepherd, and she’s the best dog in the world.

Still (or maybe again is a better choice of words!) cleaning out my email boxes. Someone sent me this and while I don’t do a lot of forwarding (I can’t believe the email lists one could develop from some of the multiple forwards I’ve received!), this one was worth saving…

    Marines are taught:
    1) Keep your priorities in order and
    2) Know when to act without hesitation.

A MARINE was attending some college courses between assignments. He
had completed missions in Iraq and Afghanistan.

One of the courses had a professor who was an avowed atheist and a
member of the ACLU. One day he shocked the class when he came in, looked
to the ceiling, and flatly stated, “God, if you are real, then I want
you to knock me off this platform. I’ll give you exactly 15 minutes.”
The lecture room fell silent. You could hear a pin drop. Ten minutes
went by and the professor proclaimed, “Here I am God I’m still
    waiting.”

It got down to the last couple of minutes when the MARINE got out of his
chair, went up to the professor, and cold-cocked him; knocking him off
the platform. The professor was out cold. The MARINE went back to his
seat and sat there, silently. The other students were shocked and
stunned ! and sat there looking on in silence.

The professor eventually came to, noticeably shaken, looked at the
MARINE and asked, “What the hell is the matter with you? Why did you do
    that?”

The MARINE calmly replied, “God was too busy today taking care of
America’s soldiers who are protecting your right to say stupid shit and
    act like an asshole.”

    “So, He sent me.”

    whoooooya!
