I had different plans for today, plans that included blogging. As it turns, my plans went wildly awry. I’m regrouping, but in the interim, I leave you with one short post to enjoy and one music video that charmed me because of it’s old-fashioned romanticism. Came across this post on the history of the Chamber of Commerce, Local Chambers of Commerce: Not Born for Ourselves Alone | Newgeography.com
A lot of what they started has been perverted but it is a good answer to Elizabeth Warren on where roads and schools come from.
Good music video!
The linked insane regulations post reminded me of a when I worked at a software company that provided a customizable tool for automating the assignment of general ledger codes to our client’s services and expenses. As my boss observed, the companies with complex & detailed GL categorization all went belly-up while the ones with very simple approach have a succeeded. Simply put, the successful companies were focused on the big picture and not wasting valuable time on non-profit creating tasks. The fact that with Obamacare, the number of federally mandated categories of illness and injury for which hospitals may claim reimbursement will rise from 18,000 to 140,000, scares me!
