A) Government promiseth, B) Government taketh away!

This article that just appeared in Bloomberg.com, regarding Stockton-writ-California-writ-USA-writ-large’s pending bankruptcy, is just so absolutely jaw-dropping crazy…uh, no, wait….it isn’t really so crazy after all. Never mind.

If Stockton Is Broke, Why Isn’t San Diego?: Steven Greenhut

http://www.bloomberg.com/news/2012-03-02/if-stockton-is-broke-then-why-isn-t-san-diego-steven-greenhut.html

Here’s the money take-away: referencing the fact that, for the past 20 years, city employees could earn full lifetime health benefits (employee and spouse) after working only one month, Stockton City Manager Bob Deis noted…

“There was no money set aside to fund those commitments.”

And that’s the rub with our national, state and local governments, isn’t it? They can promise anything to get peoples’ votes, but there is no obligation to deliver. All they can do is make empty promises. And so, like moths to a flame, do we the people incinerate our futures and our freedoms on the soaring promises of hopey-change utopians. We once-proud, free, self reliant Americans have shown ourselves to be all too willing to give up our freedoms in exchange for promised government benefits…i.e., retirement pensions, health care, security, education…with not even a guarantee that the government will or can deliver.

You see, the government can never guarantee such promises, because (as our European cousins have so amply demonstrated) these are promises that government never could deliver. Government can’t deliver because a) government itself cannot create those benefits and b) because, inevitably, in the end, there is never enough money to pay for other people to provide those benefits.

The only thing the government can guarantee is that a) once surrendered, you won’t get your freedom, retirement, health care, security, or money back and b) the only way that it can even pretend to deliver on its promises is by taking away even more of your freedoms and money. Flame – moth – destruction.

It’s the J. Wellington Wimpy sydrome isn’t it. I’ll gladly pay you on Tuesday, except there aren’t any Tuesdays in local, state or national calendars – only Fridays when they ‘dump’ the news. The politician’s job is to get elected and damn those that get in his/her way.

A totalitarian system can deliver on these promises. That’s their solution. Does this really surprise anyone here?

But there’s a catch. Not even Hitler or Stalin could make sure luxuries flowed to everyone. So that meant that only “certain” people would get the benefits. Get the picture? That’s the Democrat and Leftist Utopia. Obama’s just another cog in the wheel of evil.

The Obamacare subsidies’ estimate just went up – in the space of ONE YEAR – from $360 billion to $480 billion.
That’s a 33% increase, just in one year.

We always knew it was going to happen, and that it is NEVER going to stop happening.  This is exactly what happened to Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid.  It will happen every year to ObamaCare, too.

The liberals refuse to see, or they simply don’t care about the economic doom that is approaching, or they actually may even desire to see the catastrophe arrive.  I don’t know, I can’t read their minds.

The other Big Three are already Big.  ObamaCare will eclipse them all, probably becoming the Big Elephant within just ten years.  Let us hope there is a way to stop it, or doom surely is on its way.

In case you missed it, the estimate is that our national debt just exceeded 100% of our GDP about one week ago.
That is a dire apocalypse warning… a key, significant, dark milestone passed.

National debt is only a portion. What about local and state debt. Isn’t that part of the bigger picture [ponzi scheme].

One thing you can be sure of. The politicians and bureaucrats will never have to worry about being out of work or poor. Those with political protections will be protected. Everybody else will get the treatment that peasants got back in medieval Europe. The reason why there were often peasant revolts is not because they didn’t want to pay taxes to the crown. It was because those taxes were so crushing that starvation began to set in, as the food they needed to eat and the seed they needed to plant the next season’s crop, was being confiscated.

    By the government.

    Greetings:

Back in the early eighties, I spent a handful or so of years working for our Navy as a civilian printer. Even way back then, part of the folk wisdom was that you don’t have nothing until you have it in writing and maybe not then either.

Of course, our parents used to say ‘there is not such thing as a free lunch’, ‘you pay to play’, or ‘beware of Greeks bearing gifts’. or ‘you don’t get something for nothing’.  Then again, some parents said ‘you never listen to me anymore’.

Sadie said in 6: National debt is only a portion. What about local and state debt. Isn’t that part of the bigger picture

Yes, I agree.  At the state level you’ve got some states in enormous trouble: California and Illinois the worst, Michigan and Nevada too, others I’m sure.  Incredibly lucrative pension plans for state employees, GUARANTEED to be paid by the taxpayers before any other liability, are the crushers there.

And no state should be required to bail out another state for such egregious fiscal mismanagement.  Fix it and suffer, due to your profligateness in the past few decades.  You don’t get to rape the rest of us for your own financial utter foolishness.  Yes, I’m talking to you, California.  No state is “too big to fail” so that you can hold it over the rest of us, who have been financially responsible.  Same goes for Illinois.  And for New York State.

And as for other COUNTRIES expecting us to bail them out of their financial mess… where we don’t even have a sovereign contract binding us together such as the Constitution… you can only imagine what I think about bailing them out!  The U.N. is frothing at the mouth, the IMF is frothing at the mouth, all of the international organizations are rabid, trying to find a way to force Americans and other countries to bail them out.  While America still CAN bail others out, before our own looming financial catastrophes make that wealth transfer impossible too.

Scary times.  Financial doom and gloom isn’t pretty.  But it sure looks like the reality, a reality we continue to blind ourselves to.  Looming.

According to Investment Watch Blog (the numbers below). I think the numbers are the current debt and do not reflect future contracts and promises. The ugly irony here is that September 11, 2001 was in part to create a financial disaster to America and the reality is that Frannie/Freddie/Frank/Dodd et al are the real internal financial jihad.

Well, it’s not like we didn’t it was happening. Even if the government wasn’t broke, you’ll still be living under fascism.

Sadie, the Left and the Islamic Jihad are in alliance. Of course their actions would have similar consequences, since they are allied against us.
