Why both of Obama’s hot mic moments matter

Seth Mandel compares Obama’s hot mic moments (insulting Netanyahu; cutting private deals with the Russians) to George Bush’s single hot mic moment:

[W]hen the microphones were off, Bush was–to no one’s surprise–just as supportive of our allies and as tough on our adversaries as he was in public. These moments might seem insignificant, but they reveal why some presidents are able to win the trust of our allies, and others are not. Our most candid moments will always play an outsized role in others’ approximations of our moral compass. This is even more so when they confirm a pattern of behavior.

Having spent decades in and around the broadcast world, I occasionally find myself wondering what the hell a “mic” is when it’s at home.  We always called those things, hot, cold; live, dead; up,down; on,off – whatever, “mikes.”

JJ In the professional audiovisual design documents I have never seen the abbreviation for microphone as ‘mike’ and always ‘mic’ (long i sound). Of course if we wrote ‘mike’ someone might think they have to include a person in the bid :)  Which is why we say loudspeaker instead of speaker because a speaker can be a person too. “I can’t hear the speaker”. “What?”.

Obama’s every action and word indicate that he seeks a weaker America.

Have we EVER had a president – before this one – deliberately seek to harm his country?  We know why he is doing it: He is an internationalist, and seeks to strengthen international institutions, and sees the U.S.A.’s strength as being in the way. Therefore, the U.S.A. must be weakened.

Our own president is in charge of the international effort to weaken, and harm, our country.  The President!  It truly is amazing.

Do not forget that America is evil and harmful to the world. Why else do you think Obama goes around the world, apologizing for America at every chance he gets?  It all fits together.  Obama is consistent once you pierce his deceit and treachery.  These “hot open mic” moments of truthtelling, when he has dropped the mask, are all you really need to know.

America took a big risk on a President who grew up outside of our nation, and whose politics have always indicated a hatred for American values.   We – the American people – voted him into office.  And our chickens are coming home to roost.  I wonder how often Mr. Jeremiah Wright’s thundering sermon – “God DAMN America! God DAMN America” plays in Obama’s head.  And what do YOU imagine the conversations between Obama and Bill Ayers were like, when they got together frequently, pal’d around, and shot the shit?  What do YOU think they talked about?
