Donna Summer, RIP

Donna Summer burst upon the music scene when I was in high school. She was gorgeous, she had a glorious voice, and she sang wild, throbbing disco music.  This was one of my favorites:

My love for dancing came about, in part, from bopping around my bedroom to Donna’s golden pipes.

As with so many of the famous people who found themselves at the frenzied, drug-ridden eye of the 70s pop culture storm, fame was hard for Donna. She suffered from depression and anxiety attacks, and tried committing suicide several times.  She saved herself with faith, becoming a born-again Christian.

This morning, Donna Summer died from lung cancer, aged 63.  RIP, Ms. Summer.
