Good for them!  It is understandable why the comments on the video are disabled.  They have given me HOPE for my home state……yeah, I know, there is no real hope for Illinois but at least I know there are some brave young folks doing what they can.

Speaking of women voters, you’re staying well away from the Todd Akin controversy, Book!

A friend of mine whom I deeply respect was defending Todd Akin, only to the point that what he said was incredibly stupid, but that in fact there were doctors who found rape so deeply traumatizing that they would lead to increased miscarriages.  I have been so against Todd Akin and yet I very much respect this friend that he caused me to have to double back and reflect on my axioms.  I still think I’m right, and yet…  If a person I deeply respect can adopt this “medical” justification, why couldn’t a lesser light such as Akin adopt the same belief, especially when it aligns so closely with his personal religious belief that abortions should never be allowed, even in rape cases?

I still think I’m right.  Todd Akins is an idiot who should have withdrawn before 5 pm today.  But I’m glad I was challenged.

    Another comment.

If you think the success of our endeavors depends upon a total fricking idiot like Todd Akins actually making the right decision, then we ARE doomed, and we deserve to be doomed.

If he costs conservatives the Senate in 2012, then he does.  So what.  Then we didn’t deserve the Senate in 2012, is all it says.  He’s one guy.  (And he’s one clueless idiot who somehow became the GOP nominee – and what does THAT say?)

It’s not just about 2012, as I’ve been saying.  The battle is much longer.  It’s not really just about Barack Obama.

Mike:  you’re right that I haven’t said a word about Akin. The reason is that I sent a letter to his campaign telling him that, no matter his good intentions, there are some mistakes too big to remedy with an apology, and that, in this case, the courageous thing would be to fall on his sword, rather than to fight on. Clearly, he ignore my letter. In today’s world, his statement was such an act of appalling stupidity, there is simply no excuse. Thihas of nothing to do with pro-Life or pro-Choice, and everything to do with pro-Stupid — which makes him too dumb to live politically.  I’m appalled that he’s girding for a fight. This is a disgraceful battle.

What’s even worse is that, per Gateway Pundit (and I won’t link as that’s hard to do on an iPad), Akin’s little foray into “science” has its roots in Nazi “science.” The whole thing is just bad, from start to finish.
