If it is true that QE3 was to buy our own debt bonds because no one else is buying them, then this is the same as standing in a bucket and trying to lift yourself by the handle. It also decreases the savings of everyone. Someone who understands economics, please explain how this is supposed to help. It would appear that we are already bankrupt and nobody has told the emperor he has no clothes.
