CM7: It is precisely a result of that that I started thinking about using Petraeus’ counter insurgency doctrine, except in America’s inner cities. We needed it far more than the Iraqis ever did. Our terrorists were far “smarter” and more powerful than AQ. As proven by the fact that AQ did so many horrible things, even the Sunnis rebelled against them, without even asking for America aide to begin with. Don’t you guys remember when the New Orleans Police Department came and confiscated all the handguns in New Orleans before Katrina? Then, somehow, they went AWOL (took the cash and ran), leaving the citizens of NO to the mob, rapists, looters, killers, etc.

How exactly do you think the NOPD knew who had guns… and who didn’t?

Racist indeed. After the Civil War, many Southern states passed the Army-Navy gun laws. Which allowed only the purchase/possession of the Army-Navy revolver. It was a well constructed gun and accordingly expensive. Which disarmed blacks since they were poorer and unlikely to own such as a CSA veteran. All to eliminate cheaper and, admittedly more dangerous, guns favored by cash strapped blacks.
I believe I read this in David Kopel’s book ‘The Cowboy, the Mounty and the Samauri’ that these cheap guns, tagged with the label ‘Saturday Night Special,’–cheaply made guns that poor people could afford had a probable derivation from the terms ‘suicide special’ (reflective of the dangers of firing a cheaply made gun) and ‘ni**er-town Saturday night.’
Oh, BTW, ever notice where the gun buy-back programs are held? Never seem to be affluent white suburbs. Probably just coincidental.

JKB #6:

On the default settings, I clicked in a bunch of colored (sorry! racist) non-white (oops! racist again) rainbow (gayist?) boxes and they all came up with 83.1% for firearms, and 9,0% for the second highest number.

I backed out completely, and came in again, and got 78,2% for firearms a bunch of times.

What gives?

You make a good point, Book, although it may be too subtle for minds that long ago abandoned logic and reasoned thought.

The thing that amazes me about the Democratic subjugation of the black community is how each indignity the party visits upon blacks is rewarded by ever fiercer devotion to the the party by blacks. It is Stockholm syndrome on steroids:

Set it up so that one-third of all our babies are butchered in the womb? You bet!

Offer crap “education” by union hacks in dilapidated, thug-infested schools where our kids will never learn how to capably read or write, or even speak proper English? Bring it on!

“Represent” us with classless hustlers, haters, and pimps—Jackson, Belafonte, Glover, Rangel, Sharpton, Holder, Foxx—who even as they instruct us about our perpetual victimhood on the one hand rob us blind with the other? Way to go!

Best of all, sell us on the idea that there is a vast white conspiracy that has against us for generations, but persuade us to never ever look in the direction of the white faces that run the Democratic Party? Bamboozle us!

Run some parameters. You’ll find that for blacks, males mostly, in 2010, Homicide-firearm is the leading cause of all deaths for those 15-34 and is sadly in the top 3 for those 1-14. If you filter for injury deaths you see that it is Homicide-firearm that dominates.

Now if you run non-Hispanic whites you see that Homicide doesn’t make the top 3 for all causes for any age group. And if you filter for violence – you see suicide-firearm dominates.

So perhaps the gun grabbers are just trying to save white people from themselves and if blacks are left defenseless in the face of murderers….?

Sorry. I don’t care. Being an Old White Male I find I’m not only rascist, I’m sexist, gayist (is that one of them? Somehow it just doesn’t sound right), and all other “-ists” on the list today. All of those words have all semblance of meaning and I no longer care. They have no impact on me, what I think, how I live my life. I just don’t care.
