As Justice Scalia has stated, the "well regulated" phrase of the 2nd Amendment has no relationship to our modern interpretation of government regulation. It referred to an internally disciplined unit as opposed to an aroused mob.

There is an unease and unrest in this country that I have not seen in my 70 years. It is evident from the intertubes and from my extended family and friends spread from sea to shining sea. Nobody is happy about this. It can't happen here.

It won't happen here. Dead body and all that other stuff.

I agree with cerumendoc's take on Gandhi. Under a more vile colonial regime, such as the French, Germans, Belgians, or Russians, the skinny little pontificator would have been marched out to a scaffold or firing squad and =poof!= consigned to oblivion.

But Gandhi's little con lives on, especially among the pacifist wing of progressivism. I have never met a pacifist who, like Gandhi, was not willing to sacrifice millions of lives for a putrid ideal that is built, like most progressive notions, on a foundation of preening moral superiority.

I don't put much into Gandhi's so-called non-violence. The implicit threat of his tactics, namely his arrest and even possible execution, was that of massive civil unrest and violence--such as rioting. This threat was specifically targeted at the British who didn't have the stomach to take the necessary action against such.
But, up north, contemporaneously, the leadership of Stalin's Soviet Union, Hitler's Germany and eventually, Mao's China, were people had the stomach and indeed took action against such opposition with genocide and mass killings. Gandhi wouldn't have lasted a day--he and his allies would have been rounded up and shot. Or, deposited in a concentration camp to be worked to death.

Great post, Book. I've practiced civil disobedience in response to the census, giving no more info than the number of people living in our home (as required by Article I, Section 2 of the Constitution). I had no fewer than 5 visits from census takers asking me to complete the rest of the form, which I adamantly refused to do. Of course, I had determined ahead of time what the penalty might be and was prepared to be fined or jailed, and I would have also been quite pleased to make a ruckus in court. I still remember my mother's naive comment when I told her I flatly refused to give the information: "I don't understand why you won't do it. They're only trying to help poor people."

No, the current powers-that-be have not the slightest conception of how such a federal order will go over in fly-over country ... especially if it steps all over the Constitution. They have gotten so accustomed to sneering at conservatives, and libertarians, and veterans, at the Tea Party, and at groups like the Oath Keepers, they have no idea of the whirlwind they might sow.
There was a graphic that I saw today at - I think it was Ace of Spades HQ, but it turns out the link is to a Facebook page: http://www.facebook.com/offthegridnews
A map of gun-owners in Texas - the entire state is orange. Good luck with confiscating all of those. As they said at the Guadalupe Fight (which was the attempt by the Mexican military commander in Texas in 1835 to reposess a little bitty 6-pound surplus cannon originally issued to the town of Gonzales for local defense) "Come and Take It."
Gov.Rick Perry of Texas has a pair of boots with the motif of the Gonzales Fight flag worked into them. I know, because he showed them off at a Tea Party 4th of July rally in 2009. Curiously, the local Tea Party org that I was active in then was founded and helmed by a military veteran. A lot of us involved were military veterans. Make of that what you will.

Even if they go quietly into the night, there's plenty of people I know who will just burn the various cities to the ground using real guerilla warfare, taking down as many bastos as they can before burning up in a fire.

If they don't know how, there's plenty of people with the knowledge that can and will teach them.

The Leftist cannon fodder often times don't believe Americans would put up much of a fight against K9 dog units, military autos, tanks, and what not. That's because they themselves cower and beg before the supreme might of the US government.

What people consider terrorism, insurgent attacks in Iraq, would only be less than 10% the number of casualties an American insurgency would inflict on its enemies. Those are the crappy, incompetent, retard efforts at violence made by amateurs. Who, coincidentally, keep dying in suicide attacks so they never become "veterans" at mayhem.

The Left is very good at verbal and sexual violence. They have converted, enslaved, or forced beat down a sizable percentage of Americans like that. With the success they have had so far, it makes logical sense that the rest of the nation can be forced to comply, if they could take the guns away, as done in Germany, UK, and Australia.

But when the government has guns, they were never intending on banning guns. Oh no, to the government, banning guns would stop them from doing more WACos and Ruby Ridges. That is a power too delicious for the Leftist regime to pass up. Do not underestimate a population that was celebrating with champagne at the Fall of Saigon. Never doubt that their thirst for blood is a lot more than your thirst for peace.

Some of us have hated the Left ever since we realized the truth of what they were really doing to humanity. But at the same time, almost all of us also recognized that no real military or political action could be made until everybody else hated the Left equally as well. When they generate 100 more WACOs, that will be just about the right starting point. And if that comes from failed "SWAT" raids into the wrong addresses... well, it's been known to happen before.

Just as Mao once wrote, the harder the government attempts to suppress the revolution, the more casualties occur, and the more hatred of the government there is. Unless the government kills off all the leadership, all the cadre, and most of the hard core trained membership, it is difficult to suppress a rebellion. Historically, though, rebellions have often been poorly supplied and armed, and thus no match for government forces or knights. However, I can tell you right out that most of the private organizations I know... are infinitely better than the government counter parts, including the US military's basic training. Advanced training, expensive equipment, and complicated organization is still something larger organizations do better with better funding, but on a person to person level, the private trainers I known of, can teach better tactics and educate people on violence faster, than the DEA "shoot myself in the leg" government agents can, or the FBI "let's bake open the children" agents can.

The power of one person is meaningless in a nation of 300 million. Unless that person can teach 10 million how to kill 100 million in less than 6 months.
It is comical in many ways how people speak of fighting the Left or their policies or something else on the talking points list of various US factions. But no where do they feel the burning fire and hate required to actually do something about it. The kind of emotion that would make a person kill or die in the process, is not an emotion most peaceful, sheltered, civilians ever know of. It is inconceivable to them. But with enough government terror and repression... perhaps they will learn, in due time, what evil truly can do.
