This is one of the few articles on the subject which takes note of the fact that it’s nothing new. Many school districts have had a program in place for years. And of course, in Utah, anyone with a CCW permit can carry within a school.

Three relevant paragraphs:

Gary Rudick, the chief of police for the Tulsa Public School District, wrote in an email to the Free Beacon that armed officers in schools are a deterrent against crime and armed intruders. The district formed and funded its own police department in 2008 and the results have been positive.

“Armed offices are a visible deterrent. There has never been a school shooting in the United States where there was an armed, in uniform, sworn police officer on duty,” Rudick said, adding that there are other benefits to having police on grounds.

“Within the five-year period, we have seen arrests decrease as we continue to develop relationships with students in schools. We have recovered an average of four to six firearms from students each year, most always based on the relationships developed with students who come to the officers and give information on the presence of the gun,” Rudick said.

I wouldn’t necessarily consider that a good thing.
 
Because the Left was always going to fund whatever their alliance members wanted, as a sort of quid pro quo. At the time that people reacted to the NRA messages, they had yet to find a way to profit off of it from a police union stand point. Now it looks like Biden was worked out a deal where Leftist alliance members, the police unions for example, get a cut of the prize. And everything is good, and now it is “policy”.
 
This just means that only police and military will have guns. It doesn’t resolve the fundamental issue, which is that students and citizens rely too much on the government to call themselves “free”. They’re not free. They’re just graduating to slave class.
