Increase your uptake of protein, Bookie. Send Herr Bookworm to the health food store for some high grade protein powder, such as Met-rex. Eat more, small meals (say four, or even five) emphasizing fiber and protein (30 grams or thereabouts) The protein is for healing, the fiber is for avoiding post surgery complications with (ahem) elimination

You should try for 100 120 grams of protein to rebuild your body. This is where protein powders are invaluable -- you can knock down 50 grams of whey protein, eqivalent to 60 grams of beef protein (12 oz of beef BTW) and it feels like you've hardly ingested anything

Request #1: Hey, they didn't happen to give you a DVD of the probe's-eye view of the surgery, did they? The reason I ask is because I had a boss several years ago who missed work one day to have arthroscopic surgery on his knee, and he mentioned that they gave him a really cool DVD showing the whole surgery, and said that he'd bring it in to show us. And I imagined what it would be like to see the world as a tiny little probe inside of a knee, with a camera sitting neatly between two tiny little power saws: "Ddddddrrrrwwwwwwssshhhhttt! Ddddddrrrrwwwwwwssshhhhttt! Ddddddrrrrwwww-pop-pop-pop-pop-pop-rrrwwwrrrssshhhttt! Eeeeerrwwwwwllllllllssshhhhh!" Like something out of The Matrix. It would have been so cool to knock off at 4:00 on a Friday, pull the shades, break out the beer and popcorn, and have an office viewing of Friday the 13th Part XXVII: Craig's Knee. Alas, he naver brought it in, and I've felt cheated ever since. Now, I know that you're not much into posting pictures of yourself, but maybe for inside-the-knee you might make an exception? Just a thought. It'd definitely be different!

Request #2: (The more important request.) Get better, will ya?
