Don’t Believe Everything You Hear……

I heard Lars Larson this afternoon, reporting that in NY a couple’s house was visited by law enforcement because she had been Googling pressure cookers and her husband had been looking for a backpack online.

It sounded terrible on a number of levels — NSA-based paranoia can lead us to believe that they’re watching everybody…..

Well, it turns out that there’s more to the story:  the guy had been fired from his job, and it was his former employers who turned him in to local (not Federal) law enforcement, because he had been using his office computer and doing searches on “pressure cooker bombs” and “backpacks” and they understandably caught a sudden case of nerves.

We most definitely need to keep our eyes on them – I can fill pages with examples of why – but we also need to take a deep breath.
