Does the Obama administration really want to get involved in a fight with the elderly nuns of the Little Sisters of the Poor?

Although Ted Cruz didn’t mention this during his magnificent 21 hour marathon attempt to reach past the media and speak directly to the American people, one of the things he’s fighting for is religious freedom.  Case in point:  Mother Theresa’s The Little Sisters of the Poor, which is made-up of mostly elderly, and definitely celibate, nuns has been forced to file suit in order to avoid the Obamacare mandate that it must provide all of its employees with insurance that includes birth control and abortifacients.

I can’t wait to see the wits in the internet come up with poster memes for that one.  Anyway, if you’d like to know more about this one and understand just how tyrannical Obamacare is, please check out the Anchoress’s post.

Yes, Book, the administration very much wants to get involved in a fight with a bunch of dessicated old spinster nuns. You have to remember the deep, deep contempt in which Obama and his fellow travelers hold both the Catholic Church and decent sexual morality.

Viva the subsidized genital, the hallmark of True Freedom!

    Greetings:

I don’t know much about the Sisters of the Poor, but, from personal experience, I would recommend that neither President Obama nor any of his too many minions step in front of any Sisters of Mercy, especially Sister Mary Andrew and Sister MAry Robert. That “Mercy” may not mean what you think it means and those men’s names are all the warning you will get.

With deepest apologies to Charles Martel, I must quibble about the word “want” in this context.
It’s not so much that Obama and cronies “want” a fight, as that they cannot HELP themselves, so dogmatic and driven are they by their ideological agenda. EVEN when it’s stupid and actually hurts them.

Exhibit 1 – Obama’s stupidity on the capital gains tax.  When asked, given that Treasury gets MORE revenue when the rate is lower, he STILL whined “but it’s a matter of FAIRNESS…”

Slight correction.  Mother Teresa did not found the Little Sisters of the Poor.  They were started in France by Jeanne Jugan.  Mother Teresa’s order is the Missionaries of Charity.
The Little Sisters of the Poor do sterling work and I am very happy to see them stand up against the HHS mandate.  May they win.

Robert, you make a great point. It’s like the old story about the scorpion that delivers a death sting to the frog he’s cadged into carrying him across a stream well before they’ve arrived at the opposite bank, even though he knows it will result in his own death: “It’s my nature.” You may have put your finger on the left’s fatal flaw: its knee-jerkism.
