Finally!! A gun control proposal that makes sense

The repulsive Democrat Rep. Alan Grayson made news yesterday by putting out a fundraising letter that likens the Tea Party to the KKK (which, during its heyday, was an entirely Democrat organization):

Grayson fundraising letter comparing Tea Party to KKK

Today, in a very timely way, Caped Crusader sent me the first sensible gun-control proposal I’ve seen, when that gets to the heart of the violence underlying gun crime:

In 1863 a Democrat shot and killed Abraham Lincoln, President of the United States.

In 1881 a left wing radical Democrat shot James Garfield, President of the United States, who later died from the wound.

In 1963 a radical left wing socialist shot and killed John F. Kennedy, President of the United States.

In 1975 a left wing radical Democrat fired shots at Gerald Ford, President of the United States.

In 1983 a registered Democrat shot and wounded Ronald Reagan, President of the United States.

In 1984 James Hubert, a disgruntled Democrat, shot and killed 22 people in a McDonalds restaurant.

In 1986 Patrick Sherrill, a disgruntled Democrat, shot and killed 15 people in an Oklahoma post office.

In 1990 James Pough, a disgruntled Democrat, shot and killed 10 people at a GMAC office.

In 1991 George Hennard, a disgruntled Democrat, shot and killed 23 people in a Luby’s cafeteria.

In 1995 James Daniel Simpson, a disgruntled Democrat, shot and killed 5 coworkers in a Texas laboratory.

In 1999 Larry Asbrook, a disgruntled Democrat, shot and killed 8 people at a church service.

In 2001 a left wing radical Democrat fired shots at the White House in a failed attempt to kill George W. Bush, President of the US.

In 2003 Douglas Williams, a disgruntled Democrat, shot and killed 7 people at a Lockheed Martin plant.

In 2007 a registered Democrat named Seung – Hui Cho, shot and killed 32 people in Virginia Tech.

In 2010 a mentally ill registered Democrat named Jared Lee Loughner, shot Rep. Gabrielle Giffords and killed 6 others.

In 2011 a registered Democrat named James Holmes, went into a movie theater and shot and killed 12 people.

In 2012 Andrew Engeldinger, a disgruntled Democrat, shot and killed 7 people in Minneapolis.

In 2013 Adam Lazna, the child of a registered Democrat, shot and killed 26 people in a school.

Recently, an angry Democrat shot 12 at a Navy ship yard.

One could go on, but you get the point, even if the media does not. Clearly, there is a problem with Democrats and guns.
No NRA member, Tea Party member, or Republican conservatives are involved.

SOLUTION: It should be illegal for Democrats to own guns.

Best idea I’ve heard to date. JUST SAYING.

• Caped Crusader

Or, the “progressives would most likely want to spend trillions more in an effort to create more “GRUNTLED” democrats. After all there must be a reason they are disgruntled, and it’s Bush’s fault anyway.

• Charles Martel

Book, I say go directly to the root of evil and ban Democrat access to voter registration forms.

• Blick4343

“SOLUTION: It should be illegal for Democrats to own guns.
Best idea I’ve heard to date. JUST SAYING.”
Book, I think this is a Great Solution. I have long thought we should give demo-liberals what they want but only for them leave the rest of us out of their solutions. No guns for liberals, Athesists are desended from monkeys; Christians are created; Higher taxes for democratic districts, Republican districts no tax change; etc.

• Criminals shouldn’t have guns. Neither should Democrats, like joe Biden’s shotgun in the air.
Guess whose child will get hit by those pellets coming down?

• “(which, during its heyday, was an entirely Democrat organization):”
Even after their height of power, Democrat funds kept it moving. Senator Robert KKK Byrd, for example, a Kleagle or Grand Wizard.
After the white KKK was defunded because Democrats found it easier to own black slaves in Detroit and New Orleans, the current White Supremacy movement ironically became individuals, harmless on an organized sense.

• Charles Martel

Ymarsakar is on to something. The best slave is the one who comes to you voluntarily, thinking that his enslavement is his own idea and that he cannot possibly live without Massa.

• MacG

This list is too neat to be real. Anyone?

• Caped Crusader

Found nothing refuting on “”, after phrasing question several ways.

MacG – somewhere around here, back in the archives, is a list I put together of the true history of relations between blacks and the democrat party – the real history; what really happened; who did what.
It’s worse than this list. If you read it, and didn’t know you were reading history, you wouldn’t believe it. You’d think it was propaganda from a singularly inept republican propagandist. It’s practically a clean sweep: going right back to the civil war and coming forward since, the democratic party has predictably and often enough unanimously voted against civil rights for blacks. (And women got the vote from nasty old republicans, too – the democrats were almost unanimously opposed.)
The gap between perception and reality in this ill-educated country is just extraordinary.

• People continue to believe the problem in this country will be solved by elections. Republicans say so. Democrats say so.
I don’t believe them. I don’t believe “society”. And I don’t believe in a “government” that is rather opaque and full of evil when transparent.
Evil has never been defeated by elections. All that will come to pass in this Age, has already been known by warrior-philosophers, sages, and wise hermits free from human corruption. And it will stay that way in the future too.

• MacG

JJ, the Democrat legacy is well documented as well as Republicans being lynched on occasion but my push on this list is that just because one list is true doesn’t make all lists true and I think this one is just too convenient. For example for those who registered in the various states Virginia among them who do not state party affiliations in registering we should bump those killers off the list. Brietbart throwing out that information early poisoned the Brietbart well for liberals. Just like Hannity pushing his Obamacare horror stories that Huffpo has trashed. I have yet to see a rebuttal to that.
Facts are a bugger for both sides. I for one can’t win arguments when my lib friends throw half truths such as these back at me. I become a poisoned well to them. Trust but verify is another worthy saying that I remember someone famous saying.

• Reconstruction failed entirely in its chief aim, due to Democrat Johnson’s vetoes. The Northern Democrats were allied with the Southern Democrats because they were… Democrats.
Yet just recently we know that people and their families in Georgia and elsewhere, had an entire history of their families voting Democrat. It wasn’t until Reagan came around that people would even vote for a Republican or at least admit it.
Why were the people of the former Confederacy so hostile to Republicans? Why do they blame Republicans, Lincoln, or the Civil War for the failures of Reconstruction?
How many years has it been since the civil war again?
That’s how many years in the future the Loyal Democrats will be spouting off the Democrat propaganda about socialism, anti rape feminism, and authoritarian totalitarian Greater Goods.
The propaganda of the Democrats was already effective even before they joined/created the Leftist Alliance.
Terms like “War of Northern Aggression”, “Tyrant Lincoln”, and various other incidents were implanted in Southerners during the economic collapse when they had no one to rely on except rich, wealthy, former plantation owners that just happened to be part of the Democrat upper echelon.
But now a days while individuals repeat the propaganda lines of their forefathers (they weren’t given the truth, they have no idea what really happened and who really caused it), Democrats have pulled their funding for the former Confederate states. It is no longer under their total control. Coincidentally, people prosper. Coincidentally, people didn’t prosper when Democrats were elected once again to fulfill a Jim Crow, slavery light, pogrom during Reconstruction while using the KKK death squads to suppress resistance.
Was it really a coincidence?

• “I become a poisoned well to them.”
You were already poison to them. Trying to change yourself to please your Democrat masters isn’t going to do you a single bit of good. If you want the truth, search it out for yourself and decide things for yourself, not to “please your friends”. Because they will soon be your masters with that kind of behavior.

• MacG

Y, I am not trying to please my lib friends or change from what I am. I just do not want to be made a liar to them by blithely passing along false information. I need to be above board, I should think all conservatives would want to be as well. I would love to be able to send them here to say here is a reliable blog but when these kinds of lists come up I just cannot do it. I do usually go to the source material though to escape the “You got it from a conservative blog” dismissal.
I think Bookworm is above such convenient lists without references.

• Caped Crusader

Good luck!! Hate to tell you, but your lib “friends” will not react favorably, or change their cherished beliefs, no matter how factual anything you present to them is; if they could, they would not be liberals.

• jj

Then devote fifteen minutes to driving your computer (we know you have one) through a research session, confirm it – or not – for yourself. Don’t ‘blithely pass along’ anything: do some homework. You’re making remarkably heavy weather out of nothing. Fifteen minutes is probably a generous estimate of how long it would take to check out the entire list!

• MacG

Caped, it does no good to pass it off as factual and only fuels the firew the Fauz News makes stuff up etc. Things like should be vetted prior to sending along especially now that Book does not have time to vet as she used to. I found two links in a few minutes that showed the list is inaccurate with having to look for further things like having the dates wrong on Lincoln and Reagan’s shootings to boot. 4 things wrong without out having to dig very deep puts whatever you send along in the suspicious category. Time is precious I will give less credence to the things that you send along because of (1) you sent it without checking and (2) seem content is passing along bogus inflammatory information.

• MacG

JJ as stated above I found in a short amount of time 4 things wrong so I am sure that there are more things wrong with it.
Heavy weather out of nothing? really? Integrity is nothing?

• Jose

To Bookworm, Charles Martel, and anyone else nearby:
John Lott will be debating gun control in Berkeley tomorrow night.
If interested, more info here

• ” I just do not want to be made a liar to them by blithely passing along false information. ”
I see. It seems you still value their social connection to you, and attach your individual status and worth to their will and beliefs. My family and society determine whether what I do is good or evil, something like that.
The ancient warrior-philosophers and hermit swordsmen of olden days probably would have disagreed in part with that line of thought. Their way of life was theirs to choose, no one else’s. Why is liberty so hard to maintain for humans anyways?
Trying to pass them information when it is their responsibility to change themselves and stop their self deception is also a sign of attempting to change the world. The Leftists and their deceivers are much better at changing the world than honest people. Or those who like liberty more than welfare freedoms.
Personally, I do not care what pigs, cogs, tools, and weapons crafted to make war on me or my allies, have to say or think about anything.

• “Heavy weather out of nothing? really? Integrity is nothing?”
Nobody is making you or me pass the mail along. If a conservative passes an untruth, it is their responsibility and duty to correct it. If not, the problem is theirs, not mine. Are we somehow keepers of each other’s slaves now?
Many of us already came to the conclusion about Democrats and needed no email to copy us or direct our attention to the truth of the conclusion. The mail creators are responsible for any truth or inaccuracies in the list, not me. I did not create the list, I did not send the list, and I did not send the mail either.
Attempting to coral us into a group of stone throwers that will “make” people Obey, MacG, is not a tactic that usually works against anti authoritarian people, of any stripe. It works better for Leftists.

• MacG

Y 21 by being made a liar to them I mean be an untrustworthy source. The one constant critique I hear from liberals is that we conservatives are not critical thinkers. The whole cloth of this list in this post is dubious. Some of the items are accurate which I can pass along but this issue is not black and white as the list makes it out out be. When I google the list to is virtually viral on conservative blogs and that only hurts our credibility.

• MacG

Y 23 “Attempting to coral us into a group of stone throwers that will “make” people Obey, MacG, is not a tactic that usually works against anti authoritarian people, of any stripe. It works better for Leftists.”
I am only giving a head’s up that the list is not what it purports to be and promoting it as an accurate list on as many sites as it is on makes me think many are already corralled and robotic-ally forwarding and promoting falsehood.
This list amounts to bearing false witness against thy neighbor.

• Caped Crusader

MacG….. (in response to your previous comments:
!. Sorry I let you down in your prurient search for the truth, that will allow you to complete your mission to dazzle your liberal associates to such as degree that it will cause an instantaneous conversion as Paul experienced on the road to Damascus. I received this from a group of very reputable attorneys with whom I have been friends for 50 years. I DID subject it to searches on and, phrasing it several different ways and turned up nothing. I have found, especially the former, to be very reputable and reliable. I then sent it to Bookworm. Over the years I have had several fiends stop sending me such things due to my incessant corrections of false things that sound too good to be true, and informing them of such. Perhaps you have been oblivious to the fact that in the lapdog media they will never state the race or political associations of anyone, unless they are a Republican or conservative, in which case it will be in the headline and first paragraph. One must dig very, very deep to find out if a perpetrator is associated with anything on the left.
2. The very first link you provided led us to articles by Carole Faber in Jacksonville. I wondered just who Faber was since most of her articles were bent to the left. On the first page on Google, she is known as, “Chief Cheerleader for Obama”. You did not check out your own sources, prefering to accept the word of Fader.
3. Googling you + Bookworm Room, and reading some of your previous comments you seem very obsessed with the truth, which is admirable, but you seem so unsure of yourself and beliefs, and it is you that you are really trying to convince. You are overly obsessed with what your guttersnipe associates will think of you if you get one fact wrong. And you MUST know facts will never convince them and trying to do so is a fool’s errand. Frankly my dear, they don’t give a damn, and lies are their stock in trade as long as it is they who are telling then, and you know who is the father of all lies. I supposed those you so wish to dazzle with facts have apologized profusely to you for the heinous and scurrilous lies they constantly perpetuate. Such as Pat Schroeder constantly saying Dan Quayle said he would have taken Latin if he knew he was going to Latin America (which he never said, but was repeated incessantly in the press), or just in the last few days some Republican telling the President he couldn’t stand to look at him which is a proven lie.
4. I believe your standard for the truth, as you see it, is so high that only you can satisfy yourself, and you should create your own website devoted to such. You can then check out each word, dot, and tittle in an endless effort to impress your liberal friends, who will be laughing at you behind your back. Your type of fair weather warrior has already convinced me I will be on the losing side until the coming civil war begins. You remind me of something I read long ago about when the Communists were meeting to take over Russia, the Orthodox clergy were arguing over the color of their vestments, failing to see the real problem developing before their eyes.
Apologizing to anyone I may have offended by spreading less than totally true information. I wish you all the very best and remain your friend, and until the next time, leave with this thought and profound message:

• Caped Crusader

See how many lib friends fall all over themselves wanting to apologize for this outrage:

• MacG

Caped 25
1 Good on you for the Snopes and truthorfiction searches. I do the same with the similar results. I have also learned that they are sometimes behind the curve and not every list is checked. As I said it is just too neat and it is – shame too because much of it is true. I have had more than one erroneous item thrown back at me but when it can’t be refuted they usually don’t respond or set up an irrelevant strawman.
“Perhaps you have been oblivious to the fact that in the lapdog media they will never state the race or political associations of anyone, unless they are a Republican or conservative, in which case it will be in the headline and first paragraph. One must dig very, very deep to find out if a perpetrator is associated with anything on the left.”
I have noticed the propensity but have also noticed it is not always true. Does make it ok to falsify lists against the Democrats? Apparently no one dug deep enough for the above falsified list. I know these details are rather small but I have seen people taken in by Onion type articles as well for lack of checking. I know, you checked.
2 Wow. Can anything good come from Nazareth? I noticed that you did not debunk her claim either but do you assume because she is a lib that she is wrong?
3 Unsure? Sure, I don’t have it all figured out but I do know that passing along half-truths does not help in any debate. Ask your well trusted lawyer friends about the effect of impugnable evidence in court. Dan Quayle or Palin “I can see Russia from my house” (Tina Fey). Or how Paul Revere warned the British (true but scoffed at because it does not fit the condensed school learnin) or how…I know.
4 It may be a high standard but shouldn’t we reach for it? In what have I said have you and JJ interpreted as me trying to impress my liberal friends?
I am not sure what you mean by fair weather warrior.
From your language, I am pretty sure you’re a believer, are we not to live above board, beyond reproach? Doesn’t that include politics too?

• What’s not black and white is why MacG wants conservatives to change, but lets the Leftists keep living in self deception.
Somehow it becomes the responsibility of the “betters” to redistribute their wealth and time to pay for the personal debt of the “Leftists” now.
I consider this corruption and pollution. When talking to Leftists, the conversion doesn’t always go one way.
I am only giving a head’s up that the list is not what it purports to be
No, plenty of us will make corrections from time to time here. But we don’t add the social component that “it makes us better” or “I expected better of you” social tyranny garbage. If you got something to add that you think is truer, add it here. Adding the baggage wasn’t something people asked for or wanted.

• Nothing good will come from meeting the standards of evil, the devil, or Leftists.
The moment you mentioned that convincing Leftists was your goal, you polluted your entire position. Missionaries don’t go around adapting their msg based upon the sins and life work of the strangers in strange neighborhoods. The Left will never believe, because to them conservatives are evil. Trying to downplay this by saying “if only we became perfectly honest”, then they would be convinced is false, a deception.
Deception will never usher in a positive goal or product.

• MacG

“Nothing good will come from meeting the standards of evil, the devil, or Leftists.”
Which is why I prefer to not to engage in their smear tactics and assumed others would not want to as well, I raised the flag that the list is not what it purports to be.
“Missionaries don’t go around adapting their msg based upon the sins and life work of the strangers in strange neighborhoods.”

They do have to be proven trustworthy to be heard, earn the right to be heard.
“Deception will never usher in a positive goal or product.”
Seems to be what I have been saying all along…

• Caped Crusader

Mac 27 @2:
It was not my intention to debunk Faber (aka, “Chief Cheerleader for Obama”) a person I would not regard as a fountain of truth, as you do. What she says may be true or not, but not registering with a party does not preclude many other ways of finding out a person’s political association by investigating, something the press will do only is you are a conservative, and then ad infinitum; as dispatching many reporters to go through Palin’s trash and move in next door. Yet they have not the slightest interest in learning ANYTHING about those in their camp.
As to your comment about Bookworm not having time to research everything sent to her — who does, to the level of purity you expect. That is why I still advise you to set up your own website whose purity you can oversee to your own satisfaction, and where others can then pick on your shortcomings. I think anyone who did not go to school on a short bus realizes political websites are primarily opinion sites, and not meant to be fountains of purity. I am a lover of cartoons, and especially one panel masterpieces. One in my collection shows an elderly boss handing papers to a secretary and saying, “Here is the unvarnished truth, have young Rogers varnish it, and get it back to me”. I believe that is what most rational folks expect from opinion sites
I think we both have stated our positions, so I will have nothing further to say. Wishing you well.

• doghaireverywhere

This list of “Democrats” behind all those shootings is completely false. And I am a registered Republican. But one who is sick and tired of all the lies published with a political agenda. Stick to the truth — it will triumph in the end, and lies only diminish the appeal of the cause and turn away those who you want to attract.
