Piers Morgan gets it wrong AGAIN

Piers MorganPiers Morgan makes money in America, but doesn’t understand America.  Following the Duck Dynasty explosion, Morgan tweeted out that the First Amendment “shouldn’t protect vile bigots” like Phil Robertson.

Au contraire, Piers.  Putting aside the fact that this is not a First Amendment kerfuffle (A&E is not the government), Robertson’s speech is precisely the type that gets First Amendment protection.  Popular speech doesn’t need any protection.  To the extent speech needs protection, it’s unpopular speech that is covered under the First Amendment.

There are limitations, insofar as the Supreme Court has given the government leave to act against speech intended to create imminent acts of violence or that are blatant falsehoods against private citizens.  Otherwise, though, in America you’re allowed to say things that other people don’t like or with which they disagree.  Free speech and guns are each citizen’s primary bulwark against despotic government.

They’re doing the demonization thing again.

They’re going to paint you as evil, then when the orders for the death squads and concentration camp transfers come in, your friends on the Left will be saying “but we didn’t know that would happen, we just did as we were told”.

See, the Duck guy isn’t a human being, entitled to human rights, respect, conversation, or any such title. He’s just a vile bigot. When they get rid of him, they’ll be like “but we didn’t have any part in that. We didn’t know anything about what was going on. We didn’t want him dropped over the Mari trench”.

    yea. Right.

Piers is wrong only to the extent he believes in the AmeriKKKa founded by the racist, profiteering slavers. Since he is a Socialist who believes in his own absolute morality, wishes to end religion, end America and Constitution, end freedom, end Capitalism, save the planet, etc. etc., he is correctly and directly stating both his politics and his morality, which flows inerrantly from its premises.

How cute, the little Brit thinks he better understands the limits of our 1st and 2nd Amendments that we do. I do wish he would toddle on back to the UK where the speech and gun laws are more aligned with his beliefs.

Morgan is a Jerry Springer-like bottom feeder. At first glance, that might seem to be a status anybody in his right mind would avoid. But somebody has to play the role, and why not play it well? Morgan is a lightning rod for conservative comment, and manages to get his mug plastered all over the Internet despite his miniscule audience and ratings. So there are some smarts there.

Also, Morgan lets on far more than he knows his knowledge of both the Constitution and its defenders. So he pushes our hot buttons again and again because it’s a tactic that never fails to deliver. Does his hypocrisy and the contempt in which he is held bother him? Highly unlikely. He is one of the best bottom feeders on the planet and is rewarded handsomely for it. In other words, he is a perfect progressive shill.

Everyone has been hitting on the fact that what Phil said should be protected under freedom of expression but it really is a religious freedom issue.  If you read the Bible, it is quite clear that there are behaviors that are not acceptable to God, and practicing homosexuality is one of them (and there are more as Phil pointed out.)
If you believe in God and accept the Bible as His revelation, then there is little ‘wiggle room’ to be had on what God says.  If it says ‘Thou shalt not steal”, we all accept that.  It gets a little trickier with ‘Thou shalt not commit adultery’  and “Thou shalt not be a false witness’.
As the Bible (and Phil) point out, all of us are sinners and except for the Grace of God, we’d all be doomed to hell.
But, if you have the integrity to clearly state your beliefs and stand by them, then you are vilified as being a ‘bigot’.
Sad to say, the government has established a state religion and it ain’t Christianity.
