With friends like Obama, why would Israel need enemies?

I've always suspected that, in addition to the official message, Obama added his own little prayer about Israel's demise.

I’ve always suspected that, in addition to the official message, Obama added his own little prayer about Israel’s demise.

Harry Truman could have been called an anti-Semite based on some of the things he said about Jews, but it was he who voted “yes” at the UN, making possible Israel’s creation in 1948.  Nixon could have been called an anti-Semite based on some of the things he said about Jews, but it was he who saved Israel’s bacon (pardon the non-kosher word choice) in 1973.

Oh, and here’s the really funny part:  Barack Obama, who claims to be the greatest friend Israel has ever had in America, gives every indication of being the worst enemy Israel has ever had in the White House.  He speaks of love, but his actions can be measured just by looking at his appointments to State, Defense, and the UN.

And speaking of Obama’s appointment to head America’s State Department:

Yes, in what’s now being called his ‘poof’ speech, our secretary of state went out of his way not to blame Mahmoud Abbas and the PLO’s intransigence and refusal to negotiate anything for the failed talks. Of course, it’s all Israel’s fault!

“Israel didn’t release the Palestinian prisoners on the day they were supposed to be freed, and another day passed, and another day, and then another 700 settlement units were announced in Jerusalem, and ‘poof’…that was sort of the moment,” remarked Kerry before the Senate Foreign Relations Committee.

Read the rest here.

I’m struggling to come up with some amusing animal kingdom analogy (“lions blame antelope for hastening their own deaths because they run away, enticing the lions”), but I can’t.  I’m too irritated, and there’s nothing amusing about this.  It’s just scary.

Nixon’s words on tape at the time was that Jews would still be voting against him, but he would still send military support to Israel.

And you wonder why he had an Enemies List. The Left can’t stand people like that. And you know by now why they can’t do it.

Using Pale Moon to write this comment. Poor Firefox they were ahead of their time and now they are a summation for everything wrong about America in the Obama age.
The good news about this is that it is at least a test of strength and a wake up call. Israel can’t depend on the American government but then neither can Americans. Kerry wants to humiliate Israel and decent Americans want to humiliate Kerry. It’s a fair trade.

A good time to discuss and evaluate the rise of ant-Semitism and its causes? Most of those contributing to this blog are bicoastals and/or urbanites. I, being a hinterlander need go no further than my own home to introduce you to two totally different worlds. I grew up in the 1930’s and 1940’s in a Southeastern urban “Capitol City” in a neighborhood that was about 50% WASP, 30% Catholic (backgrounds mostly Irish with a smattering of Germans, and precious few Italians), 20% Jewish (many recently arrived). My wife grew up in a series of small towns in the foothills of the Great Smoky Mountains as her father worked building a series of dams as the wild Tennessee River was being tamed, and hydroelectric power was being produced instrumental in enabling the region to be the electricity dynamo allowing Oak Ridge to develop the atomic bomb nearby with its massive demand for electricity. I graduated from a “Top 20″ nationally ranked university one mile from the home in which I grew up. My wife graduated from a religious college in a small town in her area which had a reputation for producing top notch students who excelled in medical school. We  met in medical school, she being one academic year behind me.

When I met her she had known the exact same number of Martians, as she had Catholics or Jews. A totally unknown entity, but being completely unpredujiced. She  innocently told a fellow Catholic student working on an adjacent cadaver he forgot to wash his face after receiving ashes at an Ash Wednesday service. Those days have, to a certain extent, passed by; but there still are millions out here in the hinterland who have never known a single Jew on a personal level. My grandmother in the 1930’s helped refugee Jewish families get established in small businesses adjacent to our pharmacy. One family with whom we have remained close friends over many years had a son born the same week as I. We grew up together playing and being buddies over the years. We will call him Dave, and his Dad we will call Jake, for purposes of anonymity. Jake was a very gregarious, friendly, and outgoing individual who, despite not having mastered English yet, never met a stranger, ran a prosperous clothing store two doors down for us. Jake was an ardent Zionist, and my Christian family also supported the idea of a Jewish state. Prior to WW2, having missed my eldest uncle for several days I asked Granny where he was, and she told me he had taken Jake to Mexico to look for his brother who had escaped from Germany, and Jake had told the family Hitler was going to kill all the Jews in Europe. After the war all moved to a more prosperous part of town, but during the high school years Dave chose to go to his old school in a less desirable part of town. Having been recognized as a great student, everyone was flabbergasted that he would ride the bus daily across town to go to his old school. The kids there were so proud, and although being the only Jew in school, he was elected class and student body president. We both went to the local top 20 university and served in the military. I went away to med school, and he locally to law school. He enjoyed a very successful career in law, city politics, and later as a judge in various elected courts. Always proud to be a Jew, he nevertheless had a great affection for his Christian friends. Every year there would be a nice article in the paper that once again Dave would be covering all the emergencies in the courts Christmas Eve and Christmas Day so Christians could be with their families during that time; explaining that being Jewish he did not celebrate those days and was happy to help those who did.

Now back to my main point about the millions in the hinterland who have never known a Jew. With 24 hours news coverage, if the only Jews you had ever seen were Chuck Schumer, Barbara Boxer, Debbie Wasserman-Schultz, Alan Grayson, Jerrold Nadler, Al Franken, Diane Feinstein, Henry Waxman, and others too numerous to mention, what would you think of Jews? And to top it off the only people in this country who really sincerely believe that Jews have a right to Israel and a safe homeland are the dreaded “bible believing Christians”, that the non religious secular far left Jews go out of their way to insult, antagonize, humiliate and destroy. Can you see, as I do, this places Jews in peril of having no friends at all, and when you most need them, those you have constantly demeaned are no lnger your friend? And it boggles the mind that the vast majority of Jews belong to these organizations that really are for their destruction, and do not see the danger.

Caped Crusader, your last paragraph makes an excellent point.  Multiply that for American blacks, who are the most antisemitic group in America next to Muslims:  they’ve never seen a Jew; the Jews on TV, although promising them government goodies, are unusually unappealing people; and their preachers, like Rev. Wright, are openly antisemitic.  Unlike your wife, they are not pure and innocent in their ignorance about Jews; they’re poisoned.

I agree, Book, that Caped Crusader makes a wonderful point about one likely origin of the anti-Semitism the left is now carefully nurturing. My wife is nominally Jewish, and she would count Boxer, Feinstein, et al., among her political heroes simply because they’re Democrats and Jews. I, however, cringe at the sight of the Shumers and the Wasserman-Schultzes. I have too much respect for the non-self-hating Jews I’ve met along the way to see anything decent in those collaborators.

From the time of Pharaoh and ever since then hatred of Jews has been a top down affair.  The Jews give a vexing problem to the grasping elites. When Jews act like they are supposed to and show that man is subject to the Creator they show that the elites must use their wealth and power as a responsibility and not as a means of hedonism or as a power base for more power and wealth.
When the Jew does not act like a Jew but ingratiates himself into the ways of the ruling elites then the elites have to decide whether they wish to “share” or crackdown.
It is amusing how atheists always laugh at the idea of “the man in the sky” in the Bible but never address the real message which was there was “a man on the ground” who said he was a god and an entire advanced civilization lived with the lie.
We are in a dangerous time. The “skeptics” don’t want the rational society they pretend to want. They really want a “man on the ground as a god” to cement their power or if not that then Islam which at least freezes social mobility and creates the richest classes the world has ever seen.
