#ProTranslating refuses to translate Dennis Prager video taking Israel’s side against the Palestinians

I received a press release just now.  To appreciate fully how dastardly ProTranslating’s stance is, you have to understand precisely how temperate Dennis Prager is.  He has a view point, but he always supports it with facts and logic, and he never deviates from his essential humanism:

INTOLERANCE RULES AT PROTRANSLATING

LOS ANGELES, CA—Prager University’s recent course entitled, “The Middle East Problem,” has been denied translation into other languages by ProTranslating (www.protranslating.com) due to what the company calls the course’s “controversial nature.” Unfortunately, the move is as unsurprising as it is disturbing in an age where anti-Israel sentiment and anti-Semitism is on the rise.

PragerU has utilized various translating services for its courses so that students of any background can receive their messages. Until ProTranslating’s refusal to translate its Israel course, no company had displayed any prejudice. “This is the first time we have encountered such crass intolerance from a translating service,” explained Prager University’s CEO Allen Estrin. “It just demonstrates how deeply embedded the anti-Israel sentiment remains, even here in the United States.”

As its name intimates, the course offers an explanation for one of many problems that afflicts the Middle East. “Israelis want to live in peace and are willing to accept a neighboring Palestinian state. And most Palestinians do not want Israel to exist,” notes the course description.

“It is fine to disagree with the course. In fact, we produce these courses precisely to encourage healthy debate,” added Prager University’s COO Marissa Streit, “but to refuse to tolerate a differing viewpoint is a troubling trend, and one that is too common these days with regard to Israel.”

Based in Coral Gables, Florida, ProTranslating offers its services in over 200 languages. One of their website’s taglines is, “We’re fluent in customer service.” Yet, in PragerU’s case, the anti-Israel establishment’s customer service was illiterate.

Anti-Semitism in America is hardly non-existent, and this latest episode should put to rest any notion to the contrary—it must not be tolerated. That is why PragerU has withdrawn its contract with ProTranslating.

Prager University, a non-profit co-founded by popular talk radio host Dennis Prager, launched in 2008 to teach perspectives not taught in most colleges today. It offers free five-minute video courses on life, religion, morality, philosophy and more. It currently boasts over 35,000 [input number] subscribers, and is located in Los Angeles.
