One of my favorite boyfriends from days of yore won huge points when he told me that he and a friend practically had a fist fight over who would get to ask me out after they saw how I filled out the back of my dress at a wedding.  I was Pippa before there was a Pippa.  So I like this song:

    I’ve noticed that because Western culture has destroyed gender roles, there’s no masculine specialization or female specialization. Things become about superficials, because the skills that were associated with gender roles are gone.

    For a woman, she could amplify her physical appearance by reacting at the right moment, moving her head to evoke certain feelings. That’s a skill that boosts or amplifies physical inheritances. By destroying gender roles, a woman is no different from a man. Both use make up and perfume, after all, these days.

    So what is left but superficial qualities that don’t mean anything for survival or efficiency?
