I’ve finally figured out how Caped Crusader is able to feed me this inexhaustible supply of wonderful social and political posters. You see, he went on a walk through the woods one day and came across a very old lady gathering wood, and muttering to herself, “I must have wood to heat my cottage this cold, cold winter.”

Taking pity on the lady, Caped Crusader offered to help her fill her basket. She immediately agreed, and handed the half-filled basket to him. Caped Crusader was surprised by how heavy the basket was for one seemingly so frail but set to work with a good will. Peculiarly, the basket never seemed to get more than half full. It did, however, get heavier and heavier.

Finally, just as the sun was setting, Caped Crusader and the old lady reached the edge of the wood. But when Caped Crusader turned to the old lady to hand her the basket, he found instead a beautiful fairy.

“Caped Crusader,” she said. “Because you were so kind to a helpless old lady, I’m going to give you a fairy gift. Your only responsibility is to use it wisely.”

“But what is the gift, Good Fairy?” asked Caped Crusader.

“You’ll discover what it is when you return to your home,” the fairy replied, and then vanished in a puff of sweet-smelling pink smoke.

Anxious to discover the fairy’s gift, Caped Crusader hurried home. Everything in his house, however, seemed precisely as before. Shrugging his shoulders, he thought to himself, “Well, I guess that virtue will have to be its own reward (and a darn fine reward it is too).”

Caped Crusader then went about his evening as he always did. He ate a nice dinner with his family, took the dog for a peaceful after dinner walk, and then settled down before his computer — and that’s when Caped Crusader discovered the fairy’s gift. On the home page of his browser, there was a never-ending stream of the best political and social cartoons, images, and posters that the entire blogosphere had to offer.

I am grateful, of course, that Caped Crusader’s idea of using this fine gift wisely is to pass these wonderful images on to me, so that I can share them with you.
