Why Trump is probably not a fascist

13-trump-laughs.w529.h352I bow to no person when it comes to my concerns about Trump’s disregard for the Constitution.  But is he a fascist? I doubt it.

First, Congress probably won’t be his friend, so it will finally start guarding its power more jealously than it did with Obama.

Second, what’s one of the first thing fascists usually do when they seize power?  They seize weapons.  Dictatorship and an armed citizenry don’t go together.  Trump, however, got the NRA’s imprimatur because one of the few things he’s been consistent and clear about is his respect for the Second Amendment.

If I’m worried about fascism, shouldn’t I be more afraid of the candidate who wants a disarmed citizenry than the one who wants to keep us armed?
