The Bookworm Beat 10/20/16 — the illustrated edition and open thread
Again, apologies for the silence, but something good happened. For the past 30 years, I’ve had a vague idea for a novel in my head. I had all sorts of little vignettes, but no theme, no plot, no sub-plots, no nothing. Just those damn vignettes. Last night, in the middle of my usual bout of insomnia, the whole plot and theme suddenly appeared before me. I spent a lot of today putting together an outline before I forget my insight and plan to start real work immediately. It will be a slow process, because a lot of historical research is involved, but I feel as if I’m embarking on a project that’s been 30 years in the making. That’s a very exciting feeling.
