Sheldon Adelson schools an Israeli Leftist in logic

America’s not the only one with crazed Leftists.  I managed to miss the fact that Former Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert just accused Sheldon Adelson of using Benjamin Netanyahu as his puppet in this election.  Adelson utterly destroys that canard and, to my delight, he does so in three short paragraphs that are a triumph of classic logic over arrant nonsense.  Go there and enjoy!

Olmert to go

At long last, not a moment too soon, and probably way too late, horrible Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert is stepping down:

Israel’s Prime Minister Ehud Olmert announced on Wednesday he would step down in September after a party leadership vote, announcing the end of a premiership dogged by graft investigations.

“After the election of my successor I will step down to allow a government to be formed rapidly,” he said, after declaring he would not run in the centrist Kadima party election due in mid-September.

I’d say Hurrah!, but I’ll hold my enthusiasm until I see who replaces him.

Power corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely — or Wag the Dog

At Treppenwitz, David Bogner describes a scenario in Israel in which both Olmert and the Shas opposition, blind to anything but their own desire to stay in government, sacrifice the country to disastrous politics.  This is not the kind of power of corruption one sees in someone like Mugabe, where it’s just naked greed for unlimited personal power.  Instead, this is almost more ugly because we see petty men simply clinging to their posts in a bureaucracy to save their comparatively small perks.Let’s hope Bogner is wrong.

By the way, the second part of the post title refers to a movie in which a President starts a war to deflect attention from a scandal — a movie that come out before Clinton and the Blue Dress.
