Looks like the Army is getting itself a good one

A new enlistee thought quickly and helped arrest a couple of brazen criminals (emphasis mine):

A quick-thinking cashier ran out of a Mill Valley store Sunday morning and photographed two women who had shoplifted Taser stun guns and pepper spray — resulting in arrests a few minutes later.

At about 9:15 a.m. Mill Valley police received a report of a theft at Goodman Building Supply at 775 Redwood Highway, police said in a statement.

An employee photographed the shoplifters’ license plate as they drove away from the store, police said.

The Marin County Sheriff’s Office located the vehicle about 10 minutes later in Marin City based on the cashier’s description and arrested the suspects on suspicion of possession of stolen property. One of the women was also arrested on suspicion of burglary and conspiracy, police said.

Jonathan Speas, the 19-year-old Goodman cashier who photographed the women, said he showed the shoplifters two 800,000 volt Taser guns in the store. The women indicated they needed to pick up a key in another department and ran off with the stun guns and some pepper spray, each heading for different exits, Speas said.

Speas, who has joined the U.S. Army and will be heading to Georgia next month, took numerous photographs of the arrests.
