Obama occupies the homes of rich people

I don’t know why, but I found this article, telling about Obama’s umpteenth journey to the Bay Area well for campaign donations, amusing in an ironic sort of way:

President Barack Obama will attend three fundraisers in Silicon Valley on Wednesday, May 23, the latest of his many campaign-cash-collection visits to the Bay Area.

First up will be a campaign roundtable to support the Asian-American/Pacific Islander community at 4:30 p.m. that day in Palo Alto’s Garden Court Hotel; tickets cost $35,800 per person.

Then he’ll attend a 5:30 p.m. dinner at the Atherton home of Lisa and Doug Goldman, also at $35,800 per person. Doug Goldman — a retired emergency physician, software company founder/chairman, and prominent philanthropist — is the son of Levi Strauss heirs Richard and Rhoda Goldman.

Finally, he’ll attend a 6 p.m. rally-type reception at Redwood City’s Fox Theater. Tickets for that event cost $250 for general admission; $1,000 for premium seating; or $7,500 for a seat plus a photo reception, with up to two additional photo guests at $2,500 each.

Obama was last in the Bay Area on Feb. 16, when he held a $35,800-a-head fundraising dinner at the San Francisco home of novelist Robert Mailer Anderson followed by a rally-type fundraiser at the Nob Hill Masonic Auditorium. Before that, he was here in September for fundraisers at the Woodside home of former Symantec CEO John Thompson and the Atherton home of Facebook Chief Operating Officer Sheryl Sandberg as well as a town-hall meeting at LinkedIn’s Mountain View headquarters.

The Center for Responsive Politics reports Obama has raised almost $17.3 million in individual contributions from California so far in this election cycle — about 20 percent of his national take, the most of any state. Of that amount, more than $7.3 million has come from the Oakland, San Jose and San Francisco metro areas.

(The same article explains that Obama isn’t pocketing all of this money.  He skims his bit off the top, with the remaining monies going to various Democrat committees.)

Obama, the candidate of the 99%, is sure being feted by the 1%.  These people have figured out that Obama, while ravaging the middle class, always has time to buy his rich friends an expensive dinner.
