The Bookworm Beat 10/18/16 — the “Hillary sex scandal” edition and open thread

8162709569_e098281462_polling-placeHillary is a sex fiend who sleeps with anything that moves.  You may want to bleach your eyeballs after reading the following words, but here they are:

Hillary Clinton is a secret sex freak who paid fixers to set up illicit romps with both men AND women!

That’s the blockbuster revelation from a former Clinton family operative who is sensationally breaking ranks with his one-time bosses to speak to The National ENQUIRER in a bombshell 9-page cover story — on newsstands Wednesday.

What’s more, it wasn’t just Hillary’s flings with women that the shadowy Mr. Fix It helped to orchestrate!

Hillary’s former bagman finally confessed to The ENQUIRER just how he helped her to cover up her affair with married lover VinceFoster, too!

The shadowy figure — who provided PROOF of his employment for the Clintons — also revealed 12 fixes he covered-up, including:

+ How Hillary secretly plotted to a counter-attack on Bill’s mistress Monica Lewinsky — via a document buried for two decades!

+ What crooked reporters were on the take from the Clinton camp!

+ How he covered up Bill’s seedy romp with hookers!

+ Which A-list celebrity had a secret affair with Bill during his presidency!

Read the rest here. Maybe the National Enquirer has the noise and heft to break through the Dome of Silence the media has built around Hillary. It’s managed to suppress the Wikimedia revelations that Hillary is a criminal and that the media has colluded with her. Perhaps, though, the sex scandal will finally capture America’s attention and force the media to report on her.

And now back to my regularly scheduled blogging:

Something is very rotten with the polls. Trump draws 10,000 people to a rally; Hillary draws 100. In areas where their cars won’t get smashed up, Trump supporters have Trump bumper stickers. Here, in the San Francisco Bay Area (Hillary country), there are no bumper stickers. Nor is this because people are so secure in their votes that they won’t place bumper stickers on their cars. In 2008 and 2012, uncountable cars were festooned with Obama stickers, while I saw innumerable Bernie stickers during the primaries. Now, though? Nothing.

And yet, the polls insist that Hillary is creating an insurmountable lead. So one has to ask, what does it mean when the facts on the ground bear no relationship to the polls?

This isn’t just me being paranoid. A lot of people are thinking there’s something extremely rotten in Media and Polling Land.

A comprehensive indictment of everything Hillary offers. John Perazzo took it upon himself to write the Hillary indictment. Because he was writing a post, not a book, he only went back as far as her Secretary of State years. Even with that limitation, it’s a long post.

Perazzo is not unduly wordy. It’s just that Hillary has been guilty of so much criminal wrongdoing, incompetence, and morally inexcusable behavior in just the past eight years that it’s impossible to write a short indictment.

This is the kind of document that all concerned conservatives should read — and by concerned I mean those who are finding it hard to vote for Trump. Trump is not the problem in this election. The problem is Hillary.

Incidentally, I spoke yesterday with a Marin Progressive who knows I’m conservative and offered me this backhand compliment:  “All the Republicans I know are stupid and racist. You’re the only one who isn’t.” He also assured me that, when Hillary repeatedly violated explicit national security laws, “it was just a mistake.” How does he know this? “Because Hillary said so.” He was on a roll, and nothing was going to change his mind, so I forbore to point out that Hillary knows she violated the law. In her mind, the only mistake she made was getting caught.

My Progressive acquaintance is the kind of person who should read Perazzo’s post . . . but won’t.

The Constitution is broken and Trump’s election might fix it.  Andrew McCarthy makes a point I’ve long discussed here, and it’s a point that can’t be made often enough:  Trump, Hillary, and Obama are all symptoms of a much deeper sickness in America:  Congress has completely abandoned its responsibility to be the third point of the “balance of powers” triangle:

As I argued in Faithless Execution, while Congress’s powers to thwart abuse of presidential power are dispositive, there are, really, only two of them. If Congress refuses to use its authority to limit or cut off funding, the only remaining limitation is impeachment. If, in addition, Congress takes impeachment off the table, there is nothing left but a rogue president’s subjective sense of what he (or she) can get away with politically. The same, obviously, is true of the president’s subordinates: If, despite their lawlessness or incompetence, Congress maintains (or increases) their budgets and shrinks from impeaching them, then they are limited only by the whims of the rogue president they serve.

This is why our system no longer works. The Congress is AWOL: an increasingly irrelevant institution that: (a) does not see itself (either individually or collectively) as obliged to defend the Constitution; (b) delegates its legislative tasks to the sprawling bureaucracy, over which the president has far more influence; (c) punts tough calls to the judiciary, simultaneously refusing to exploit its constitutional authority over the courts’ jurisdiction in order to prevent or reverse judicial imperialism; and (d) is incompetent to perform basic tasks, such as imposing “regular order” on the appropriations process and compelling presidents to submit international agreements to the Constitution’s treaty process.

Trump won’t go begging for Congress to resume its responsibilities. Congress simply will. Between a GOP that hates him and a Democrat party that hates him more, he will be completely cabin’d, crib’d, confin’d and bound. Hillary will not. Nothing will change Congress’s laziness, and Republicans will be just as cowed by cries of “misogynist” as they were by cries of “racist.” Hillary’s election would put the seal on the imperial presidency.

Victor Davis Hanson agrees that Trump is the better candidate.  I always know I’m being smart when my thinking aligns with either VDH or Dennis Prager, both of whom have concluded, as I long ago did, that there is absolutely nothing about Trump that outweighs the evils that will accompany Hillary into the White House. Here’s VDH making the case:

Nor is the election a choice even between four more years of liberalism and a return of conservatism; it’s an effort to halt the fundamental transformation of the country. A likely two-term Clinton presidency would complete a 16-year institutionalization of serial progressive abuse of the Constitution, outdoing even the twelve years of the imperial Roosevelt administration. The WikiLeaks revelations suggest an emboldened Hillary Clinton, who feels that a 2016 victory will reify her utopian dreams of a new intercontinental America of open borders and open markets, from Chile to Alaska, in the manner of the European Union expanse from the Aegean to the Baltic.

Conservatives who sit out the election de facto vote for Clinton, in the manner that Sanders’s liberal supporters, should they stay home, become votes for Trump. Oddly, renegade Democrats seem more eager to return to their fold than do their louder Republican counterparts. The idealist Bernie Sanders is not nearly as bothered by WikiLeaks and other hacked revelations of how Hillary Clinton sabotaged his campaign, cozied up to big banks, and admitted to talking progressively while in reality serving Wall Street, as are Republicans by Trump’s potty mouth. Yet in a veritable two-person race, the idea of expressing positive neutrality, to paraphrase the Indian statesman V. K. Krishna Menon, is to suppose that tigers can be vegetarians.

Read the whole thing here.

Ann Coulter takes on the hypocritical outrage over Trump’s words and the lies about his conduct.  It’s vintage Ann, at her best when she’s on the attack against genuine political evil:

The same media that are pretending to consider the use of a bad word equivalent to rape don’t give a fig about real rape, real sexual assault, real whoring, even real homicide, depending on who did it.

JFK was an STD-infected drug addict who cavorted with whores at the White House, but the media ferociously hid all this from the public, publishing fairy-tale versions of his presidency as “Camelot.”

And what happened to the 11-year rule? Trump said the word “p*ssy” 11 years ago, in a secretly recorded conversation. Eleven years before Sen. Teddy Kennedy ran for president, he killed a girl — but he ran, not only without apology, but, indeed, as the Conscience of the Democratic Party.

Throughout 2009, good, decent Americans who happened to oppose Obamacare were called the name of a gay sex act hundreds of times on TV — and that was just on MSNBC. CNN’s Anderson Cooper made the reference explicit when he giggled, “It’s hard to talk when you’re tea-bagging.”

Among the people using this sexual slur were distinguished members of Congress such as U.S. Sen. Robert Menendez and Rep. Barney Frank. Were they fit to hold office?

Going way, way, way back to a few weeks ago, the same media gasping in horror at “p*ssy” sure didn’t mind my being called a c*nt repeatedly on a Comedy Central broadcast. And when I say “didn’t mind,” I mean they thought it was awesome.

But saying “p*ssy” 11 years ago is over the line.

Cut the crap, media.

A few years ago, Sen. Al Franken joked on a Comedy Central roast about producer Rob Reiner butt-f*cking his children. Does Hillary think he’s fit to be a U.S. senator? Is he fit enough for the Senate Committee on Environment and Public Works, but not the Senate Finance Committee?

And that’s only a taste of what she has to say. Read the whole thing. It seems especially pertinent now that the National Enquirer is blowing the whistle on Hillary’s on sexual peccadilloes. (But of course, Hillary’s a PC bisexual. That’s better than a man who loves women.)

Gawker article points to city-country divide in this election. David Wong claims that he’s going to vote for Hillary, but I think he’s a secret Trump voter. He’s from a small town and he’s an on-point post about the way that Democrat urban America has destroyed small towns across our nation. It’s their despair and anger over the last 8 years (well, really more if one counts the Democrat Congress during the Bush years) that’s fueling a large part of the Trump campaign. It’s another long post, but is also easy to read and has a lot to contribute to the political discussion.

FBI cowards. Despite knowing that the head of their organization is incredibly corrupt, as evidence by the deals he cut and his ultimate refusal to send to the DOJ a woman who committed manifestly felonious acts, all that FBI agents are doing is talking amongst themselves about Comey’s corruption. I’m not impressed. Complaining to each other does not count as the brave whistle blowing necessary to expose the White House, the DOJ, the FBI, and the whole Clinton political establishment as dangerously corrupt. Sidney Powell says what should really happen, and that is for Loretta Lynch and Comey to be impeached — or, at this point, just exposed — but all the FBI does is whine.

American youth thinks Bush a greater killer than Stalin.  Stalin oversaw the death of well over 40 million Russians — those whom he ordered killed, those whom he starved to death, those whom he worked to death, and those whom he used as cannon fodder because his dysfunctional economy couldn’t produce real weapons. I don’t even know the numbers for those in those countries he overran who died thanks to those same policies.

George Bush didn’t kill any Americans, although he did oversee two wars in which American service men and Iraqi and Afghani civilians died. Too many died. But the numbers aren’t even in the seven digits probably just crack the low six digits. But one-third of American students believe that Bush was more deadly than Stalin. That’s what teachers unions will do to your education — aided by publicly funded hard-Left colleges.
