Please pardon my silence today. I’m dealing with a couple of things. I’m still recovering from my shingles vaccination, which hit me incredibly hard. I’m not complaining, just explaining. I know, from watching other people deal with shingles, that the condition is much worse than the reaction to the vaccination. It’s just that I’ve run the gamut from fever to joint pain to headaches to terribly disturbed sleep. I’m finally starting to feel better (whew!) but I could not find the energy to blog today.

The other thing is that I’m in the process of switching over medicines to deal with migraines and intractable hot flashes (eight years and still going strong, but I can’t do hormone therapy because I can’t handle hormones). I’m actually quite optimistic about the outcome of this experiment, but the changeover from one medicine to another is a little bit of a challenge. Things should ease off in the next few days, but I won’t actually know if the treatment is truly working until September. That doesn’t mean I’ll stop blogging between now and September. It does mean that blogging will probably be light between now and Saturday as I get over the first hurdle of switching out medicines.

In the meantime, please feel free to enjoy an open thread. The news is fascinating and it frustrates me that I can’t rouse myself to blog about it. But if I can’t . . . maybe you can.

To those new to my blog, just a reminder that we in the Bookworm Room community welcome differences of opinion and will manage fine in the face of some snark. However, obscene or abusive language will not be tolerated. I’m sometimes a bit slow catching up with things, but I can assure you that if you are threatening, disgusting, or otherwise scary or personally offensive (and I get to make the calls), you will be banned.
